The DIY Packaging Supplies

To be able to make your own boxes, you will need some supplies. We have rounded up a list of all the things that you need in order to achieve that;

1. Adhesive glue

2. Card stock – colorful and enticing

3. Ruler

4. Scissors or sharp plate

5. Pen

6. Laces, ribbons, decorative and/or sequins.

Step 1: Choose a Design

If you already have a design in mind, then there’s no need to search the web for anything. But if you don’t the first thing you need to do is browse the internet for creative and innovative designs. Decide a theme for the boxes and then look up for all the patterns, designs, and ideas you can come across. Once you’ve done that effectively, you’re up for designing and printing a box yourself. You can print according to the trends or events happening. For instance, if it’s Halloween, print your boxes with that theme in mind.

Step 2: The Shape Cutting

It is essential that you cut sharp shapes of the box. You cuts should be around the container design. For that, follow the dark line. When you have sharp cuts, the box will be able to hold its shape and stay sturdy when you put something in. If not, the box can collapse or fall into bits.

Remember not to use a sharp knife. It can potentially destroy the surface of the worktop youre cutting on. If you do use a knife, or any other sharp object, you need to place a cutting mat on the surface of the table beforehand.

Step 3: The Assembly

There will be two straight overlay lines now that you need to score along. With that, there will be bent creases – four of them. You can use a pen for making indents on the paper.

Step 4: Glue All of Them Together

Remember, the gluing part is the most important and essential. You need to use the best quality of glue to stick the pieces together. If you use something below the par, your boxes can easily fall and break in bits. Therefore, it’s best you invest in the most premium quality sticking glues.

When you squeeze the glue, make sure it isn’t that much. Don’t be too heavy-handed on the glue, yet at the same time, don’t use too little. Squeeze some glue tenderly on the edges of the box and stick the pieces together. Make sure that the top and base of the box are bow out.

See, wasn’t that really easy making your very own custom boxes for your products. The things that you got weren’t expensive either. And you got to have some fun, and were able to use your creative side too.
