Amendments to

Proposed Resolutions 2023

Resolutions were received at National Office by February 9th, reviewed by the CFUW Resolutions Committee and returned to proposers who subsequently made some revisions to the Resolutions before they were sent for Translation into French.

The revised Resolutions are being circulated today March 1st to CFUW Clubs and Committees for study and the option of submitting Amendment(s) to the Resolved Clauses. For suggestions on how Clubs may review Resolutions, please see the documents linked below.

An amendment is a proposed change that is relevant to the subject of the Resolved Clause, is offered as an improvement, and does not introduce a new subject. At the CFUW Policy Session in July the Resolved Clauses are the only part of the Resolution subject to a vote. Clubs are encouraged to discuss, consider and debate the proposed Resolution and to propose an amendment if your Club believes such amendment would improve the Resolution. Proposed additions, deletions or rewording of the Resolution Background, Implementation or Bibliography may also be submitted as suggestions, (not Amendments), at the end of the Amendment form.

Clubs submitting an amendment should use the form found below and also available in the Resolutions Guidelines and Policy 2022-2023.

A separate Amendment form should be completed in Word for each Resolution being amended. (PDF documents cannot be accepted.)

Please submit amendments as they are developed. All Clubs submitting an amendment will be advised upon receipt of their amendment. If Clubs do not receive confirmation that their amendments have been received, they should contact National Office and resend amendments to the CFUW Resolution Chair and CFUW Advocacy Coordinator. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Please email Amendment forms to Paige Inglis, CFUW National Advocacy Coordinator at advocacy@cfuw-fcfdu.ca and to Grace Hollett, Chair of the CFUW Resolutions Committee at graceh@nl.rogers.com, no later than 12 noon Eastern Time, April 24th.

Amendments will be acknowledged and forwarded from the CFUW Office to the appropriate Proposers.

For each of the six Resolutions, the Proposer and her Committee will review all the amendments received for that resolution and will consider if such Amendments could be integrated into the Resolved Clause(s) to improve the Resolution. They may work with the Resolutions Committee to finalize re-wording. A proposed amendment may be accepted in whole or in part or may be rejected. Clubs will be informed about the outcome of their amendment by May 23rd. If accepted, amendments will be incorporated into the Resolved Clause(s). Similar proposed amendments may be combined to strengthen a Resolved Clause. If not accepted, there is still an opportunity for the proposer to bring the proposed amendment(s) forward for debate at the Proposers and Amenders meeting on May 30th or on the floor when the resolution is presented at the July Policy Session.

The Amended Proposed Resolutions for the CFUW Policy Session 2023 being sent today, March 1st will be placed on the CFUW admin website at www.cfuwadmin.org. For additional information about this process please check the document Resolutions Guidelines and Policy 2022-2023. If you have any questions about this process, please contact, me at graceh@nl.rogers.com and send a copy to advocacy@cfuw-fcfdu.ca

Thank you,

Grace Hollett,

Chair CFUW Resolutions Committee
