Abstract: For the internal governance in Chinese universities in the new era, the traditional "institution-structure" perspective can hardly form a further effective explanation, and also obscures the rich forms and complex composition, conflicts, and associations of the internal governance in a realistic context. So, it is necessary to turn to the relatively microscopic research perspective of "institution-life". According to this perspective, there are two types of orders in university, i.e. "Institution" and "Living", as well as two types of actors, i.e. "Institutional person" and "Living person". Combined with some specific examples in the process of internal governance practice in Chinese universities, this perspective can provide an explanation framework for exploring the micro-dynamic mechanism of internal governance, a pointcut to thoroughly understand the responsiveness and its changing trajectory and mechanism on campus in a realistic context, and also some useful inspirations for the internal governance of universities at present.
