Jesus Destroyed Every Work of the Devil - PART 1
What some may fail to understand is that Jesus did not only destroy the works of the devil, but also destroyed sins hold on us. Sin is the primary utility that the devil uses to hook a wedge in the door, to kill, steal and destroy our lives and shift us away from fully trusting God or His Word.
What Jesus lived out and freely gives is greater than all the power of sin, flesh and the devil. The problem is many born-again believers don't know what they carry or how to make it work.
When in fact, what the believer carries is them is more supernaturally powerful than anything that belongs to the devil's kingdom.
We know, we are forgiven, that is a given. We have no problem holding heaven is our soon coming home, but after trying to resist sin by our human efforts have given up.
We fail to understand that the arsenal our God has given to us in Christ is more than enough to defeat sin's hold.
So, the important question remains, "How do I appropriate and act on what I carry?"
When we are born again, our human spirit, once dead after Adam's fall is now made supernaturally new and alive unto God. Our nature also goes through a nature change that effects the way we act and treat people. But our power to overcome sin is not self contained in solely being born-again or even possessing a new nature or having a hatred of sin. Otherwise, Jesus would not have commanded His disciples to wait until they be endowed with power from on high.
So, our victory is in all the entire work of Christ, beginning with salvation moving all the way to the full stature of Christ as we take hold of the supernatural person we have become empowered by the Holy Spirit power that lives within..
The same person of the Holy Spirit of God who lives within us, fills us, surrounds us, guides us. Empowers us. Leads us into all truth, whose ministry is to reveal Jesus and the Father as the apostle Paul says, " Until we come to the full stature of the Son of God."
ON THE OTHER HAND
If a believer really wants to hold on to sin or to continue to make excuses for sin, well, We have a free will, and the Holy Spirit will not violate it, but, It will cost in the end.
SO WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO?
1. WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD
The Apostle Paul said it this way.
Ephesian 5:17b Wherefore don't continue as unwise, but understand what the Will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with excessive wine; but rather be continually filled with the Holy Spirit;
2. WE NEED TO RECEIVE THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;
and (Greek *.kia * in addition to) you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
3. WE NEED TO DAILY BE FILLED WITH MORE AND MORE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Because we leak, we need to continually be "filled" as in Ephesian 5:18 reads. The word filled is in the {Present Imperative} which means this, "that the continual being refilled is an absolutely must do."
We need more and more of the Holy Spirit, everyday in our lives to live victoriously in Christ as sons or daughters of God to overcome the devil's schemes.
4. WE NEED TO BE OBEDIENT TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 5:32.
We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those "who obey Him.”
He gives us His Spirit so that we can have the power to obey Him.
Who empowers us to walk, the walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. If the Spirit of God live within you.
5. WE NEED TO BE WILLING TO GET UP AGAIN AND AGAIN WHEN WE FAIL
Yes, if we confess our sin, He is always faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. He is our advocate with our Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
but this is not an excuse to live out our lives subject to sin or it's hold. Yes, when we sin take it to Jesus who renews us as long as it takes. But living in sin is not the continual portion of a son or daughter of God..
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone be in Christ, he is a new creature (the present perfect καινὴ
(kainē) new, a prim. word creature; κτίσις (ktisis). The state of always being new.
The old corrupting state of being is now past, the new incorruptible state of being now lives.
6. WE NEED TO TAKE STEWARDSHIP OF WHAT WE CARRY IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
What Jesus did for us is more powerful than all and any of the works of the devil to hold us. What we carry is more powerful than what the devil carries.
Why, well because the Word of God says it is so...
And what more, The arsenal of the Spirit is more powerful than what the devil carries.
But where most fail is" trying to win a spiritual battle against sin, the flesh and the devil using the devils tactics or his way of doing things.
These are the words of the Holy Spirit through Peter 3:8
Unfortunately, many believers continue on in that way and fail. In the Kingdom, It doesn't work.
7 WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT EVERYTHING WE POSSESS IS A GIFT FROM GOD TO CARRY US ALL THE WAY TO MATURE SONSHIP.
John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Colossians 3:1-4
Then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.
THE REVELATION OF WHAT WE CARRY
THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD:
1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? Do you not know that your bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells inside you?
THE WORD OF GOD
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
THE WORK OF THE CROSS
Hebrews 10:10-23 By His will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;
With much Love
