Post Box Numbers and How They Change Postal Services in United Kingdom[edit]

Post box numbers are the traditional method of local postal services to identify where your parcel is and to which address it should be addressed upon delivery. The post office will have your postbox number, plus your street name, postal code and a stamp of your signature as proof. The PO Box numbers used in Great Britain do not include an additional street name, rather they are usually shown as AA1, BX or XYZ. These PO Box numbers only apply to Scottish coastal islands.

If you are living in the United Kingdom or are from Northern Ireland and need to know what post box numbers are, you can use the Republic's postal service known as London Post Office. All postal addresses in Ireland are based on a system of post boxes, with each one being allocated to a street address. There are separate blocks for local government, businesses and neighbourhoods. These are then broken down further into smaller areas with individual post boxes for each.

In Scotland as in the rest of the United Kingdom, the procedure for addressing mail is quite different to that of the United States. Post box numbers in Scotland are known as stott strobel. Stott strobel is also known as post-line and as the actual name suggests, it refers to the main road to an address, rather than street names or even districts. In many cases, this will include the name of the local authority. Finding of Post Box Numbers

Many companies offer their clients a simple online form to input their address details to obtain the correct post box numbers that they need, or an address-by Address service. This allows clients to enter their street name and also selects from a list of pre-approved short cuts to their location, in case the client needs to visit a particular shop or business address. When an address-by Address service is entered, a map is generated showing the location, with the PO Box number, along with all the other relevant contact information. Some online companies may even offer this service free of charge.

Benefits of Post Box Numbers in UK[edit]

Students moving to a new home in a new country in search of a home, or indeed individuals relocating to a new house or dormitory in new surroundings, can now have their correspondence sent to them in the form of email, fax, or Postbox, depending on the options selected by the user. The email option offers the student/transaction specialist several options for sending out information. There is the ability to either check for any spam mails or receive unsolicited emails. It is important however, when using the email option to ensure that the sender has a reputable email address provider, such as the widely-recognized e-mail providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, BlackPlanet, etc., or a reliable web based email client such as Outlook Express, or Microsoft Exchange, for example.

In the United Kingdom, post-office box numbers are considered to be part of postal addresses. However, when it comes to the Post Office's main mailing system, the post-office box number is different from the post office box number. Post office box numbers are reserved specifically for use in the UK and Northern Ireland and are different from the post office numbers. A postal box number is the number you can find on letter envelopes and bills. As well, it is used for referencing services such as wills, mortgages, and so on.

Other uses of Post Box Numbers[edit]

The post box also refers to the top-right-hand edge of the envelope, which has a slot for a post card, or a sheet of paper for a message such as a document. The slot is designed so that messages or documents can be inserted or removed without damaging the envelope or sheet of paper. This slot is called a post hole, which is found at the bottom edge of the envelope. If you were to place a card or piece of paper into this slot, the message would be received correctly.

Post box numbers are usually located on the address side of the letter or invoice. In international mail, however, the actual location of the number may vary depending on the country and the postal service used. Many people mistakenly think that they are addressing their parcels at the post office, but actually the correct locations are on the address side of the mailpiece. For example, the actual location of the United States Post Office's main address is 6123 Pleasant Street, New York, NY. Similarly, Canada's postal system is 1 CFRA Beloeil, Alberta, Canada. It should be noted, however, that the USPS only allows for two location locations per address side of a mailpiece.
