Vasileostrovskaya metro station in St. Petersburg

Vasileostrovskaya is a station of the St. Petersburg Metro. It is located on the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line between the stations “Primorskaya” and “Gostiny Dvor“. One of two stations located on Vasilyevsky Island, St. Petersburg.

The station was opened on November 3, 1967 as part of the Vasileostrovskaya – Alexander Nevsky Square section. In the project, the station was named Sredny Prospekt and Eighth Line.

“Vasileostrovskaya” is a closed-type station (“horizontal lift”) deep (depth ≈ 64 m). The station begins a series of six “horizontal lift” stations in a row. Platform sliding doors are installed along the edges of the platforms. The underground hall was built according to the project of architects A. Ya. Macheret, A. I. Pribulsky, L. S. Chupina and engineer V. I. Akatov.
