The team may not have been communicating as much recently but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy behind the scenes. We have been prioritising everyone’s safety and ensuring a smooth transaction back to the “new normal”.

The new normal is about keeping people and our communities safe and controlling the spread, with consistent checks in place these new ways of working are fast becoming normal.

We are helping to prepare our staff and clients transition to the new ways by optimising our workspace, collaborating via virtual meetings and embedding our inspection and corrective action tool list at every opportunity. This allows us and you to stay safe and efficient while working.

Support for Independence two years on
On Monday 1st June Support for Independence reached a major milestone, the company turned two years old!

Completing another year on our company’s exciting journey is an achievement and a chance to look forward to another promising year of accomplishments.

Traditionally a Birthday or Anniversary is a special event and special events are the perfect excuse for a celebration. The events of 2020 may not have allowed us to celebrate in a traditional way but completing another 365 days on our journey gave us an opportunity to look back, not only on where we came from, but how much we’ve grown and what direction we want to take in the future.

See our story here.
Armed Forces Day
Saturday 27th June was Armed Forces Day, Mark Rybczynski signed the Armed Forces Covenant in recognition of the commitment and dedication of our Armed Forces Community and their families.

The team go back to school

The management team have entered the classroom (virtually) by taking part in the Barclays Scale up Business Leadership Course.

See how Mark, Gill, Jane and Jen have been working to apply their knowledge to set a vision and shape a company culture that focuses on professionalism, care, independence, inspiration and collaboration here.

Our support workers are top of the class
Our support workers have been top of the class lately with Louise Makin graduating from Bury College University and Lucy Bowes from Blackpool and Fylde University.
Louise has worked hard with her studies over the last three years and received a second-class honors degree in Working with Children and Families.

Louise enjoyed the course and is back to working with families. Louise is keen to apply her knowledge to her role as a support worker and to look after the young families she works with.

In the future Louise would like to continue her education and move on to complete her master’s degree.
Lucy fulfilled her role as a support worker throughout her studies and completed her degree course with a first-class honors in Public Services at Blackpool and Fylde University.

Lucy is excited about the potential new opportunities that are open to her and told us she really enjoyed how varied and interesting the course was. Lucy is looking forward to applying her new insight and knowledge to the communities she supports.

Louise and Lucy are both looking forward to meeting back up with their fellow students and celebrating at their graduation ceremonies. The formal ceremonies will take place next year.

A massive congratulations to Louise and Lucy from all the team.
Welcome to our new recruits

We are delighted to welcome Nicola Edwards to the team

Nicola joins us as Office Administrator based in the Bury office. Nicola’s duties include providing all aspects of administration support to the management and clinical team.

Nicola has spent most of her career working in a clinical negligence department and brings a wealth of experience to the team. She is an excellent organiser and team player with great intrerpersonal skills. Nicola will be spending her working days making appointments, greeting clients, helping with customer queries and assisting with recruitment.

Nicola enjoys long walks on the canal with her American Bulldog Daisy and riding her mountain bike. Nicola is a fantastic asset to the company and forms a major part of the overall administration function. We are delighted to have her on board and hope you can all take the opportunity to welcome her.
