Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Please do not attend the event if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Or if:
- you've tested positive for COVID-19 – this means you have the virus
- someone you live with has symptoms or tested positive
- you've been told to self-isolate following contact with someone who tested positive
There are of course, lots of different rules and exceptions around self-isolation now, so please check the NHS website to make sure you are following the correct rules for your situation.
We will still be putting in extra hygiene measures around the event site and there will be other elements that haven't completely returned to normal in order to allow you to ease back into racing in a crowd. Details of these can be found in the race information below.
Please follow signage and marshal instructions and be patient with each other, as well as us.
All of our event plans have been written following RunBritain guidance. They have their own Guide to Participants, available on their website, which we would also recommend that you read before arriving at the event.

Download the NHS COVID-19 Test and Trace App
You will be encouraged to scan the check in code as you enter the registration area using the NHS Test and Trace app.
Download it from the App Store for iPhone, or the Google Play app store for Android devices.

Before race day
Think about your training and what you should eat and drink in the 24 hours before the event.
If you've not trained as well as you hoped or are going significantly further than you have before, be prepared to take it easier in terms of pace, particularly for the first half of the run.
You won't receive anything in the post from us before the event; all of the information you need is here, with number bibs collected at the event.
Plan your journey carefully - detailed travel information for getting to Dorney Lake is below and at the end of this email.

Social Distancing
All elements of the events are outdoors so there will be plenty of space around the event site to spread out.
Where it is possible, please try to maintain a 2m distance from other competitors whilst running. Only overtake when it is safe to do so. Signage will be in place where overtaking is not possible.
|
|
Face Masks
Whilst face masks are not mandatory in all indoor spaces, we would appreciate it if you would be willing to wear one in any indoor space that you need to enter as part of the event. All of our staff will still be wearing their masks when they need to interact with you at a distance closer than 2 metres. We support all of you who would like to continue to wear a face mask when you're not competing.
|
|
Hand Sanitiser
Marshals will prompt you to use hand sanitiser in all the places that you would expect, so expect to see this available at Race Enquiries when you pick up your number, outside and inside the toilets and at the rewards tables after you finish your race.
We have tried to minimise the number of contact points throughout the event and will be cleaning all equipment, but please cooperate with marshal instructions and sanitise your hands when asked to do so.

|
Arrivals and number pick up
All race distances will start at 9am.
On arrival to the site please follow signs and instructions from marshals. Allow yourself enough time to park up, collect your race number and get yourself ready for your race. Car parking will be along the main car park adjacent to the Boathouse. A short walk from Race Enquiries and the start line.
Once you are parked up please make sure that you have everything you need before leaving your car. Race Enquiries, where you will collect your number, in the boatbay next to the Boathouse Reception. This is an indoor space and we would encourage to wear a face mask when collecting your number.
There will be plenty of circulation space around the event area, please be considerate of staff and other participants and make sure that you allow everyone enough space as you're moving around the event.
There will be toilets in the event area and changing facilities will be available upstairs in the Boathouse. Please follow the signs and marshal instructions for the direction of travel around the event site and to the event start.
On arrival:
1 Park your car
2 Collect your bib number from Race Enquiries.
3 Are you changed for your event? What do you need to take to the start line?
4 Bib number. Should be pinned to the front of your race top. Please make sure it is not obscured by other clothing, race belts or waist bags.
8 Go to the toilet!
Race Enquiries opens 60 minutes before the race start time.
It will only take you a few minutes to collect your number, use the loos and make any final preparations.
All race numbers are held for collection. You will not receive anything in the post before the event.
You don't need a printed booking confirmation, but be prepared to show ID when asked for your name to pick up your race number.
Once you have your race number, please ensure you complete the emergency contact and medical details on the reverse. Then attach it to the front of the shirt you will be running in with four safety pins that will be provided at registration.
|
|
Toilets and bag drop
There will be temporary toilets next to the Boathouse.
There will be a bag drop facility at Race Enquiries, however if you have arrived by car please try to leave any personal items in your vehicle. Your race number has a tear-off strip on the bottom that should be attached to anything you leave with us.
|
|
Spectators
Dorney Lake is now open to the public, so spectators will be permitted with no restrictions. For anyone bringing a dog with them, please remember to keep it on a lead at all times.
Please ask anyone accompanying you to keep off the actual run course so they are not obstructing the way for runners.
|
|
Warming up
If you need space to warm up before your event, marshals will direct you to the nearside area on the north side of the lake that is clear of all run courses, start and finish.
|
|
Briefings & Timings
There will be short briefing at the race start line to ensure that you understand the course. Please do not rely on this briefing though, it will be a reinforcement of the information in this email rather than new information.
All distances will start together in a mass start. If you don't feel ready to start in a group please hang back and marshals will start you in smaller groups after the mass has gone.
Please make sure that you are at the start line at least 5 minutes before the start of the race.

Run Course
The run will be a 5K lap route, as illustrated on the route map. If you are running the Half Marathon you will complete a longer lap on the first lap, after which you will be on the same laps as the 5K and 10K competitors. Please listen to and follow marshals instructions for your distance to ensure you complete the correct course.
The loop is 5 kilometres long:
5K = 1 lap
10K = 2 laps
Half Marathon = 4 laps (including the longer first lap)
Course maps are viewable and downloadable here.
On completion of the relevant number of laps proceed to the finish line in front of the Boathouse. It is your responsibility to count the number of laps you have run.
|
|
After your run
The finish line will be the same as the start line. As soon as you've crossed the line, there will be an area to recover before you proceed through our rewards area.
Your finisher's medal and water will be laid out for you to help yourself.
You'll need to sanitise beforehand and only touch the items you're taking.
