We have extended the contract of Matthias Jaissle! The boss is now due to stay with us for another year until 30 June 2025!
Jaissle the record-breaker
The club is delighted to be able to announce this wonderful news before the current season ends. It has been the first season under Matthias Jaissle, who was unveiled as our head coach in April 2021 and took charge at the end of last June.
What a year it has been since then! With another Austrian double and a spot in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, it is been the most successful season in club history. The Red Bulls are on course to set a new record for Austrian Bundesliga points and wins.
The youngest coach in the Champions League was also able to achieve his successes in the competition with the youngest squad of all - you can't get a better fit to the FC Red Bull Salzburg philosophy than that.

By making this early decision we have gained clarity on the coaching position ahead of the new season. That feels good and saves us from all the speculation that could have resulted. Matthias Jaissle has made an extremely convincing argument this season to stay on. I don't just mean with our successes on the pitch, either, but also the way he has developed the team and lives and breathes our club philosophy. That's one reason I am already looking forward to next season.
With the performances, development of the young team and the successes we have achieved - the work of Matthias Jaissle this season has been simply superb. We have in him a coach who is a perfect match for our club and has a big future ahead of him.
We are pleased to have been able to extend his contract, and after a well-deserved holiday we can approach the new season full of energy and anticipation.
I didn't need any convincing. I just love working here in Salzburg. I feel as happy as Larry here in the club and in the region, and I really appreciate the facilities and set-up that we have here.
Working together with the team, the staff and with Stephan Reiter and Christoph Freund is just so much fun, and I enjoy coming here every day. Extending the contract ahead of time is a sign of how much we value each other.
