WWE hires Jamie Horowitz in latest push to become more media-focused

WWE’s push to become more of a media and content organization continued this morning with the announcement that veteran production exec JAMIE HOROWITZ is joining the company as Exec VP/Development & Digital, a new position. Horowitz previously had been an exec VP at DAZN and in the past has held senior positions at ESPN, NBC and Fox Sports. News of Horowitz’ hire came shortly after the WWE elected Hawks CEO STEVE KOONIN, former ESPN exec CONNOR SCHELL and WWE President & CRO NICK KHAN to its BOD. Koonin has a lot of media experience from his time overseeing TNT, TBS, truTV and Turner Classic Movies, and Schell was ESPN’s top production exec before leaving in November to start an unscripted production company with Chernin Entertainment. In October, WWE elected Barstool CEO ERIKA NARDINI to its board. Horowitz now becomes part of WWE’s senior leadership team, reporting to Exec VP/Television Production KEVIN DUNN. Horowitz starts this month and will be based in Connecticut. He will oversee WWE’s scripted and unscripted programs for digital and social media. He also will oversee WWE Studios in L.A. WWE has also hired two other execs for its senior leadership team: General Counsel & Corporate Secretary SAMIRA SHAH and Senior VP/Int'l MATT DREW. Shah comes to the WWE from online luxury fashion retailer Moda Operandi, and Drew had been an Exec VP/Rights Acquisitions for DAZN.
