As their lives intertwine, they uncover a conspiracy that could reshape their world.

Review for the series:

I think I've found my new favourite sci-fi series. With nods to Brave New World and echoes of 1984, this book brings a modern perspective to the classics. The characters are intriguing; the world is familiar yet foreign; and the story is captivating. I can't believe it ended where it did - I kept trying to find more pages just in case! This definitely makes my top ten of 2024, and I am so excited to read more.

This is the second book in the series Dance of Truth and Lies. I haven’t read the first one yet so sometimes I felt as if I was missing some information to better understand the plot but you can easily remedy that by starting the series in the right order. I usually don’t chose sci fi books but this one caught my attention as we no longer can ignore the raise of AI and the book depicts dystopian future, world dominated by artificial intelligence where one exam decides your place in life/ society. The book is well written, shifting the perspective between several characters. The shift is clearly marked so the reader is not getting confused. It’s well paced and even though I was not hooked from the very beginning I found myself turning page after another. Definitely recommend for anyone interested in sci fi novels.

Ambition and strategy underlie everything in this book, in a complex web of authority and technology. The characters work their way through an aspiration against an overwhelming opposition, making this a captivating read. I also felt that early in the story, the dialogue between characters plotting a secret rebellion created tension in showing depth to the revelation of awareness of their failures in times past. The cautious attitude in gaining allies sent me thinking about the risks of challenging authority.

The story of Dan in a robotic competition against intelligent bees contains an exciting amount of action, whereby the thinking and strategic brilliance continuously take place.

Suspense, moral dilemmas, and technological intrigue perfectly blended together to keep me pinned from the very first page. The Fast Track 2 kept me thinking about the nature of power and ambition long after I finished the book. This is a great read, and highly recommended.

Glad I selected Fast Track 2 for a read, not realizing it was the second part in a series...so circling back to pick up the first part shortly. I personally enjoy sci-fi books that show the nearer term future in a changed world. This one followed that path in that we know live in a society in which a single exam can determine where in life you will go. Truly enjoyed how AI is such a core part of this book and how the author sees it and robot tech impacting our lives.

I love the plot idea but I could go on and on about the very bad writing. I could’ve written this book better myself. And I am no writer. The grammar was bad. The syntax was bad. The editing was bad. I would’ve quit if I was able, but I’m really glad it’s done.

Good SciFi but "The series continues." -- ending not in this book.

This exciting novel takes readers into a world controlled by artificial intelligence, where a tough exam decides who lives a privileged life and who doesn’t. Stephen "Mac" Mackenzie, Yoshiko Williams, and Dinesa "Ditz" Agrawal are among the lucky few who pass with perfect scores, landing them spots at Cambridge to train as “Techs” who help keep society running smoothly.

Each character has their own goals, but as they learn more about this divided world, they start questioning the true cost of power and control. The story is packed with action and raises interesting questions about technology and fairness, making it a great pick for anyone who enjoys thought-provoking, futuristic stories.

This book surprised me in the best way. I wasn’t expecting such a gripping blend of suspense and character development. The pacing is relentless, pulling you deeper into the web of secrets, and the twists are genuinely unexpected.
What I really loved was how the characters grew..just when you think you’ve figured them out, they reveal more complex layers. The blurred lines between truth and deception made it hard to know who to trust, adding a great sense of tension throughout. If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers with depth, this one won’t disappoint!
