Welcome, New Students!


The 2021-22 academic year opened on October 24, 2021. This year, we welcomed 2,000 new students, who bring our student body to approximately 15,000 students in 17 faculties.

A Catalyst for Human Health Research


A new state-of-the-art facility will soon become a hub for the Technion's top minds in medical and engineering research. Thanks to the support of the Adelis Foundation, the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology will establish the André Deloro Building for Transformative Biomedical Sciences and Engineering. The new center, the only one of its kind in Israel, will be devoted to interdisciplinary research. Its mission will be to advance research in human health by facilitating collaboration among researchers from different faculties and disciplines.

Horev Sports Arena Inaugurated


The Technion recently inaugurated the Amos Horev Sports Arena. The new, 2,000-square meter sports center, built with the support of the Friends of the Technion in Israel and around the world, is dedicated in honor of Maj. Gen. (ret.) Amos Horev for his years of contribution to the Technion and to Israel.

Nerves vs. Cancer

 

Technion scientists have proposed a novel treatment of breast cancer, by anesthesia of the nervous system around the tumor. Their treatment not only inhibits tumor growth but also prevents metastasis to other organs.

AI Against Antibiotic Resistance


Technion researcher Prof. Roy Kishony has developed artificial intelligence technology to help match the antibiotic to the patient. His AI-based tool produced a 35% drop in the need to switch antibiotics, lowering the risk of developing resistance to them.

Harvey Prize Recipient Announced


The Technion will award the prestigious Harvey Prize to Professor James R. Rice of Harvard University. Over the years, this award has become a predictor of the Nobel Prize, with more than 30% of Harvey laureates ultimately receiving the Nobel.

Technion Researcher Spotlighted


Prof. Shulamit Levenberg of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering is one of a handful of scientists chosen to be featured in a new EuroTech Universities Alliance series. Her revolutionary approach to biomedical engineering could change the way we treat cancer, spinal cord injury and chronic conditions, such as diabetes. Her groundbreaking research is not only paving the way for organ generation, but it is also beefing up our approach to sustainability through lab-grown meat.
