CONNECTIONS COLLECTION DRIVE
BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17!
This month the Glencoe Junior High Project will be collecting needed items for Connections for the Homeless. Collection bins will be placed at Central School, February 17 thru February 26.
Please consider donating gently used or new socks, gloves, hats & scarves, as well as adult-sized hoodies, sweatshirts, and winter coats.
Help Connections serve and catalyze our community to end homelessness, one person at a time. Connections is the agency in the northern suburbs delivering essential services to people facing homelessness and housing insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Valentine's Day Cookie Decorating
Wednesday, February 10, 4:00-5:00pm
Participation Fee: $15

Decorate Valentine’s Day cookies with GJHP!
Each participant will receive a kit from The Grand in advance of the Zoom event so we can socialize and decorate together.

Village of Glencoe Appreciation
Throughout February 2021
Delivery: Wednesday, February 24
GJHP will be collecting cards, emails and photos thanking our Glencoe Public Works, Public Safety and Village Hall workers for their amazing efforts to keep our Village operating safely every day and throughout the Pandemic. We will be collecting "Village Thank Yous" throughout the month and delivering them February 24. Details coming soon!

GJHP Virtual Talent Show

Virtual Presentation: March 19
There is still time to participate in GJHP's Virtual Talent Show! We are seeking acts in all genres as well as emcees! Family acts are welcome! Participants will have the option of having two coaching sessions then must submit videos by March 1. The final (edited) show will be streamed online March 19 with participants also receiving a FREE USB flash drive of the show.
Our goal is to showcase GJHP students while still being a relaxed and low-stress program with a small time commitment.

POSSIBLE PROGRAM!
GJHP Virtual Musical
Includes questions about FUTURE shows!
GJHP is exploring presenting a remote 60-minute musical (similar to the recent hit Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical). Enrollment would be limited to 20 students with first priority given to 8th & 7th graders. Rehearsals would be held via Zoom and students would record and submit their audio and videos independently. Everything would be edited together and presented online in mid/late May.
Proposed Program Timeline:

Final Presentation: Mid/Late May

Dates: Tuesdays, Feb 23, March 2, 9 & 16
Session Time: 3:50 - 4:30 PM via Zoom
Registration Fee: $15
A Zoom link will be provided by GJHP
Book Buddies pairs Big Buddies (Grades 5-8) with Little Buddies (Grades K-2) to read together after school. Due to Covid, Book Buddies is 100% virtual, via Zoom. Buddies will be grouped in "Breakout Zoom Rooms" to read. Books are available for pick-up from the Glencoe Library. If you have any questions about Book Buddies please email [email protected].

COOKBOOK ADS DUE FEBRUARY 28!

GJHP is partnering with amazing restaurants in our village and throughout the North Shore to share signature recipes published in our Quarantine Cookbook, a coffee table style hardcover book, available for purchase in Spring 2021.
To make the GJHP Quarantine Cookbook more special for our Central School community, it will include (paid) Student Tribute and Business Ads - now available for purchase until February 28! The book will also feature a section dedicated to our graduating 8th grade class!

Student Tributes
PRICING: $100-$400
DEADLINE: Sunday, February 28
To make the GJHP Cookbook more special for our community, we are incorporating Student Tribute Ads. These ads will allow families to celebrate their student making it through the strangest middle school year ever. These are separate from free 8th Grade Profiles that will launch in the coming months.
Tribute Ads are priced $100-$400 (based on size). Families may design their own ads or ask for help in finding a way to give that special shout out.

The GJHP Quarantine Cookbook wants to recognize and celebrate Central students and surrounding community. Since there will not be a traditional playbook this year, we are utilizing the cookbook as an opportunity to honor our middle schoolers and raise necessary funds for GJHP operations and programs.
Business Ads are priced $250-$800 (based on size). Businesses may design their own ads or GJHP can assist in the creation of one.

GJHP MISSION STATEMENT
The Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP) is a parent-led, non-profit organization that has sought to engage Glencoe middle school students into the community since 1973. In order to carry out our mission of fostering socially aware, civic-minded and community-oriented individuals, we offer Glencoe 5th-8th grade students opportunities to volunteer in their community, attend social activities and events, perform on stage, as well as access to a youth drop-in center in Glencoe's Central School.
