Minister of Tourism & Antiquities Inspects GEM Today

Dr. Khalid Al Anani, Minister of Tourism & Antiquities headed today, Monday, for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) at Rmayah Square, near the Pyramids area in Giza Governorate.

The minister inspected the last touches of museum show related the hall, Great Steps, two Halls of King Tutankhamun in the GEM.

The minister was accompanied by Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary- General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Maj. Gen. Atef Moftah, General Supervisor on the GEM and the surrounding area, Dr. Al –Tayyib Abbas, Assistant-Minister for Archeological Affairs in the GEM, Engineering Consultant for the project, the contractor and a leading officials of the GEM.

The tour included inspecting the exterior and interior facades of the museum, the courtyard and side steps, the Great Steps, halls of showing treasures of King Tutankhamun that numbered 107 show windows that imported from Italy and Germany.

About 65% of the young king were on show in 65 show windows

Works of installing the artifacts in the lounge and on the Great Steps.

Those artifact are still undergoing the delicate restoration.

At the end of tour, the minister praised all staff of the GEM for their great effort to complete that great edifice according to the time table.

He affirmed that we saw today in designing and showing at the hall of King Tutankhamun competes with halls in major world museums but halls of the young king may be the prettiest in the world.
