Joining online from Dubai and Doha we had some good conversations this week at the #exploreexportwales conference with Wales based companies interested in exporting to the Middle East. Next week we look forward to joining the North Wales version in person!

#welshgovernment in #qatar celebrated #internationalwomensday2024 with a host of inspirational women from varying backgrounds, professionally and personally. This years theme of #inspireinclusion generated some excellent discussion and ideas to incorporate into our personal and work life. Gender equality, celebrating our differences and women's achievements were some of the areas discussed. #walesintheworld

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus! Happy St David's Day, to all from #Wales to #qatar! Last week we celebrated Wales' national day #stdavidsday, with special thanks to our UK Ambassador to Qatar Neerav Patel for hosting the event in his garden. Our esteemed guests from across Welsh diaspora, Welsh alumni and the Welsh and local business network were able to enjoy some of Wales' best food and drink, and be entertained by the hugely talented King's College Doha senior choir and orchestra. A special thanks to the Principal, Mike Seaton, and his Head of Music and Head of Orchestra for making this happen. The choir performed the Qatari and Welsh national anthems, and 'Over the Rainbow' by Eva Cassidy. The orchestra performed a set from their winter collection which included G. Holst’s 'Jupiter' and A. Dvorak’s 'Themes from the New World'. Guests enjoyed Hilltop honey, Dragon Wales cheese, Tŷ Nant Natural Mineral Water, Rhug Organic Estate lamb, Marks and Spencer / The Village Bakery Group Welsh cakes, CRADOC'S SAVOURY BISCUITS LTD crackers, RACHEL'S DAIRY LIMITED yoghurt, Stillers Drinks non-alcoholic gin, Penderyn Distillery whiskey and Brecon gin. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus! Happy St David's Day to all our colleagues, partners and stakeholders across #menaregion and back in #wales ...Part 1. Last week we celebrated early with an event at the British Embassy in Dubai. Huge thanks to HM Consul General Oliver Christian for hosting us in his beautiful garden. The event coincided with #gulfood2024 and was attended by 12 Wales based food and drink exporters who were exhibiting at the show in #dubai . We were fortunate that Welsh food and drink products featured heavily in the catering for the event too, from PGI Welsh Lamb (courtesy of Hybu Cig Cymru) to THE LOBSTER POT ANGLESEY LIMITED crabs; RACHEL'S DAIRY LIMITED yoghurt to Hilltop honey; Castle Dairies Ltd butter and Halen Môn salt to Golden Hooves and Snowdonia Cheese Company cheese; SamosaCo samosas to Marks and Spencer / The Village Bakery Group Welsh Cakes; and Penderyn Distillery to Tŷ Nant Natural Mineral Water, Daioni Organic milk and BRW Society Foodstuff Trading LLC tea. You could not escape the amazing flavours of Wales. Thank you to our producers! We were treated to some wonderful Welsh culture too by the amazingly talented Dubai English Speaking College Chamber Choir who sang not only Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau but also 3 songs by Welsh composer Robat Arwyn to us in Welsh. Credit goes to their singing teacher Megan Dee. Finally thank you to our Embassy colleagues who volunteered to help out and of course to all those guests who joined us on the night. Diolch yn fawr.
