A. JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Manager: Finance & Admin will be responsible for financial management including accurate accounting process and making sure all financial records and reports are maintained and followed to ensure the smooth implementation of the project activities. S/he will take the major responsibility to coordinate and implement financial management and general administrative activities under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager: Finance & Admin in collaboration with the CEO & Executive Director and core leadership team as required.

B. ABOUT FFB

Farming Future Bangladesh (FFB) is a comprehensive communication and community engagement organization, aimed to improve access to modern agricultural innovations including applications of agribiotechnology for sustainable food security in Bangladesh. Based in Dhaka, it operates in collaboration with the Alliance for Science, Boyce Thomson Institute, Michigan State University, and Cornell University. FFB is effectively engaging key stakeholders and a community of advocates who are working in a coordinated way to promote access to scientific innovations as a means of enhancing food security, improving environmental sustainability, and raising the quality of life.  

C. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Manager: Finance & Admin will manage operations and financial activities, develop all financial reports, monitor accounts, and prepare financial forecasts for the senior leadership under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager-Finance & Admin.  S/he will oversee all FFB project finances and ensure that all regulatory and compliance are maintained across financial and accounting processes.

  • Assist the Senior Manager with the day-to-day financial operations like payroll, invoicing, and financial transactions, and accounting activities.
  • Ensure all financial documents, including bills, receipts, and dockets, are safely and securely filed according to organizational procedures.
  • Ensure that all payments are made in time and provide staff advance for program operations, and liquidation of the advances.
  • Regular Banking correspondence, deposits and withdrawals, preparation of banking documents, and preserving bank-related documents daily i.e., Bank Reconciliation Statements, checkbook register, and any other Bank related documents.
  • Ensure that all vouchers and bills are approved by the authority before preparation of debit (cash/cheque payment)/ journal voucher and writing cheque.
  • At the end of each day hand-over, all completed vouchers to the assigned staff for filing according to the accounts manual and policies.
  • Ensure all financial transactions, including bills, receipts and payments are recorded in time in the TALLY software.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly financial reports as per organizational, donor, and local regulations.
  • Maintain Procurement policy as per FFB procurement policy i.e., RFQ, Quotation collection, Work Order, purchase request, purchase order, and purchase receipts.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to FFB staff in respect of tickets, accommodation, and vehicle hire (as and when required)
  • Implement other duties as required by the reporting authority and Executive Director. 

D. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Educational Requirements:

Business graduate preferably Master/MBA in Finance or Accounting. Professional qualification in relevant field CA/ACCA/ACMA will be considered as an added advantage. 

Experience Requirement:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in the relevant field specifically in accounting and finance is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to analyze and understand complex finance, accounting, and administrative issues.
  • Computer skills (MS office-MS word, PowerPoint and Excel, Tally-ERP).
  • Skilled in budget preparation, budget monitoring, and preparation of financial reports and support to audit.
  • Sufficient knowledge of accounting and NBR regulation of Bangladesh
