IRO Lead Trainer Teams

Januar 2021 an Daniela, IRO Marketing: daniela.rupp@iro-dogs.org

Herzlichen Dank!

Introduction

As the year draws to a close, it is once again time to reflect and look back on the past months. It has not been an easy year – the pandemic has affected us all and changed familiar routines.

The IRO is a strong global network though. We are that in good times and now, in these stormy times, we can feel the team spirit that defines us even more: this solidarity is our daily motivation to set the right course for the future together.

We look positively into the future and are confident that better times will soon come again for everyone. A crisis is also always an opportunity.

We are proud of our members and search and rescue dog teams who, regardless of the crisis, are committed to helping people in need every day.

Stay healthy and take care of yourselves!

New deputies for the Training & Deployment Departments

The IRO Spokesperson for Training & Judges Jerneja Ternovec will in future be supported in all matters by Katja Skulj. Katja has been actively involved in the IRO since 2005 and works for us as a Classifier, International Trainer and Judge.

With Alexander Hönel, Markus Bock has also gained competent reinforcement in the Deployment Department. Alexander is a veterinarian, lawyer, consultant and currently Head of the Ethics Committee for the Province of Salzburg. As an IRO Vet, some of you may have already met him at the MRT Area 2019 in Wiener Neustadt / Hohe Wand (AT).

Dear Katja and Alexander, we wish you all the best and good luck for your new tasks within the IRO.

Extension of the
IRO Lead Trainer Team

The responsibilities of our Lead Trainers are constantly evolving. To continue fulfilling all tasks, we are therefore expanding the team. With Dušan Weber and Andrej Žunič, we are happy to have been able to recruit two experienced Trainers for this responsible task.

Welcome to the team of IRO Lead Trainers, dear Dušan and Andrej!

According to IRO constitution, the classification of IRO members will take place in 2021. As usual, by the end of the year we ask those NROs who received IRO sponsor money to send your proof of use of funds for 2020.

A separate email regarding forms for classification and proof of use of funds will be sent to all NROs before Christmas.

Deadline for submission: 14/02/2021

Online IRO Judges' Meeting

The Coronavirus continues to influence all our lives and challenges us to rethink things. As a result, the last IRO Judges' Meeting took place in virtual space for the first time.
24 Judges from all over the world took part in the digital meeting via Zoom on Saturday, 21 November 2020.

After a warm welcome by IRO President Alois Balog and Spokesperson for Training & Judges Jerneja Ternovec, the Judges' Meeting started with a presentation on the topic of display exercise by Astrid Laner. Afterwards Resi Gerritsen presented the topic "Stress signals in obedience" as well as thoughts on the swing. The programme continued with Pavel Šabacký's explanations on the amendments concerning Area Search at the World Championship. Finally, Alois Russegger presented the Mantrailing course for Judges and Trainers of the IRO.

We would like to thank the speakers for their interesting presentations and the Judges for their time and energy.

Even though the online format of the IRO Judges' Meeting was a success, we hope to meet everyone again in person at the next meeting.

Be part of something great

We plan to create some engaging content to help us raise awareness and funds for our global search and rescue dog community. To make this happen, we need you.

To help us create compelling, authentic video content, we would like to ask you to send us images and footage of your dogs, either from your training sessions or while being on duty as lifesavers. This can be snapshots or short videos taken with your smartphone. The material does not need to be edited in any way.

From the footage we will create something special that will leave everyone in awe.

Please send all your collected pictures & videos until 12 January 2021 to Daniela, IRO Marketing: daniela.rupp@iro-dogs.org.

Thanks a lot!
