J.P. Alters is a writer who has always been passionate about supernatural thriller books. Growing up as a bi-racial woman, in 80’s London, JP faced many challenges. Her experiences influenced her writing and led her to promote messages of unity, diversity and inclusion, inspired by the Bob Marley motto of “One Love.”

Her writing career kicked off with her debut novel, and original Book 1 of the exciting Mary Jameson supernatural thriller series: A Psychic Subterfuge. This was followed by The Twisted Fates: Unearthly Lessons in Darkness, Psychic Voices (Book 1) and Psychic Training (Book 1.5.)

In 2022, JP released her debut novel A Psychic Subterfuge. Keen to learn and improve, she later revamped it, relaunching the book as Psychic Voices. This novel, the first in the Mary Jameson series, resonates with fans of the film Get Out, or readers of the authors: Amy Cross, Rick Wood and Shani Struthers. JP continues to explore the human condition in her thrilling works, offering readers a truly captivating literary experience.

    This book was fantastic, a great continuation of the main character of Mary Jameson and all of her friends. There was alot going on with this story so if you like a psychological thriller mixed with a little paranormal help this is a book to check out!! The plot definitely kept me guessing and had plenty of twists to keep it very interesting. It is part of a series so I suggest reading the first book "Psychic Voices" to get familiar with the characters because understanding their struggles with mental health is tantamount to seeing their progression in Book 2. These are characters you definitely feel invested in and want to see how it all turns out.

    I would definitely suggest reading the first in this series as Mary's back story is vital to understanding what is happening. Mary only wants a normal life with her husband and is even considering a family. When she is called upon for her "consulting" on a case where a young boy has gone missing Mary cannot pass up the opportunity to help. The ending is a huge shock and I definitely would like to keep following Mary's story.

    This book is an excellent psychological thriller with some paranormal attributes. It had me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, I had no idea and for this reason I absolutely LOVED this book! I would highly recommend this book. If you love thrillers, this is an excellent read.

    I enjoyed the first novel and was looking forward to Book 2. The story was ok, but if you are a police drama fan beware there are incorrect procedures and things that just would not happen. There were a couple of dead give-always in the story that were just a little bit too obvious. I thought it ended on a note that was extremely depressing and could have ended better to draw you into Book 3 which I will read because I like the Mary character and kept rooting for her.

    In this second book of this series, Mary, once again has to decipher the messages she hears from the other side. When a child goes missing under extraordinary circumstances, Mary is called to do some consulting. She is now in a better situation since her last one so she agrees to use her gift to search for clues. What Mary does not know puts her in a very dangerous position, one that her spirit guides try to advise her against but she does not listen. All she can think about is how the missing kids and their parents are feeling. So not only is she unable to receive certain information, she is also psychically attacked by a victim who just wants justice. This book was very emotional as well as horrifying. Being able to speak to dead people is not necessarily a good thing to be able to do. Finding the victims, discovering who a murderer is and giving people relief or closure may be something that needs to be processed carefully before attempting too commit oneself to the information given.

    Mary Jameson has always struggled with her ability to talk to the dead wanting to lead a normal life. But when a ten year old autistic boy is abducted she must do all she can to bring him home. This supernatural thriller is fast paced with well realized characters both corporal and non. Enough twists to keep the reader engaged. A solid read. I received an eARC of this novel and am leaving this review voluntarily to benefit other readers.
