Red Cross - Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the Movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government in the Disaster Management field, BDRCS provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Currently Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for suitable Bangladeshi candidate for the following position of its Bhasanchar Operation:

Job title :    Field Monitoring Officer
Job Nature :    Contractual.
Position :    01 (One).
Duration of contract :    Initially up to 31 December 2022 (with the possibility of extension).
Salary Range :    Up to BDT. 60,000/- (Monthly Consolidated).
Reporting to :    Camp Manager, Bhasan Char Operation.
Age limit :    40 years (age limit will be relaxed in case of the potential candidate).
Duty station :    Bhasan Char, Hatiya Noakhali.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Work with camp actors (service providers) and camp communities to promote and implement routine camp maintenance, considering distribution points as well.
  • Monitor safety risks (infrastructure of the camp), addressing them to the competent agency
  • Designing and implementing service provision monitoring based on Protection mainstreaming and mitigation of Gender Based Violence (GBV) risks.
  • Undertake site risk reduction and maintenance to maximize the health and safety of camp residents. Priority will be given to camp infrastructure, but it will also address hazards to shelters and other infrastructure through basic repairs, fire prevention, electrical and other safety measures.
  • Ensuring that Committees (Shelter Committees or care and Maintenance Committee) survey and report on shelter status/needs.
  • Generate and circulate periodical reports.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • At least 03 (three) years of work experience in emergency setup or development in the NGO sector.
  • Knowledgeable about research methodologies, tools, undertaking research and surveys, and how to use participatory methodologies.
  • Good communication skills, capacity to work and mobilize communities, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with people of various backgrounds, cultures, and religions.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of gender and participation issues.
  • Good knowledge of the RCRC movement would be appreciated.
  • Team player is essential.
  • Language Proficiency.
  • Skilled in Computer literacy- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Adhere to the 7 fundamental principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.
  • Act at all times in accordance with the Code of Conduct.
  • Able to work in a team and respect the opinions of others.
  • Honest and high level of integrity.
  • Assist the organization on occasion, in times of national, international, and local emergencies or major disasters.
