Repensando a subalternidade: de Antonio Gramsci à teoria pós-colonial

Resumo: Ao longo das últimas duas décadas, a chamada “teoria pós-colonial” alcançou considerável visibilidade nos círculos acadêmicos. É claro o caráter precursor que os Subaltern Studies assumem neste complexo campo de conhecimento. O coletivo indiano começou como uma intervenção na historiografia indiana, fortemente relacionado com as ideias marxistas, principalmente as de Antonio Gramsci, e se transformou, ao longo do tempo, numa parte inerente da crítica pós-colonial. Neste artigo, buscaremos refletir sobre esse movimento do grupo subalternista e as consequências políticas da noção de subalterno desenvolvida neste âmbito.

Rethinking subalternity: from Antonio Gramsci to Postcolonial theory

Abstract: Over the past two decades, the so-called “post-colonial theory” achieved considerable visibility in academic circles. It is clear the pioneering character that Subaltern Studies assume in this complex field of knowledge. This Indian collective body began as an intervention in Indian historiography, closely related to Marxist ideas, especially those of Antonio Gramsci, and has become, as time passed by, an inherent part of postcolonial critique. In this article, we seek to reflect on this movement of the subalternist group and on the political consequences of the subaltern notion in this field.
