- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2024Jocelyn Jones's book, "Sister Start Your Ministry: A Guide to Start, Grow, and Sustain a Transformative Ministry," is a beacon of empowerment for women seeking to make a meaningful impact in their churches, communities, families, and even the marketplace. As someone passionate about women's leadership, community development, and ministry, this book resonated deeply with me on multiple levels.
The author doesn't just offer advice; she provides a roadmap—a step-by-step guide filled with wisdom gleaned from her own experiences as a woman in ministry. Her passion for empowering women to step into their calling is palpable from the first page. She understands women's unique challenges in pursuing leadership roles within the church and offers practical strategies to overcome them.
One aspect of the book that stood out to me is its emphasis on authenticity. The author encourages women to embrace their individuality and lead from a place of genuine passion and purpose. She dispels the notion that there is only one way to lead a ministry, instead championing diversity of expression and approach.
Moreover, she doesn't shy away from addressing the obstacles women may encounter, whether it be gender bias, self-doubt, or lack of support. She provides invaluable insights on navigating these challenges with grace and resilience, drawing from both biblical principles and her own personal journey.
What sets this book apart is its holistic approach to ministry leadership. This author doesn't just focus on the spiritual aspect; she also delves into practical matters such as strategic planning, team building, and effective communication. Whether you're a seasoned pastor or a novice leader, there's something to be gleaned from her comprehensive approach.
Overall, "Sister Start Your Ministry" is a game-changer for women who are ready to step into their calling and make a difference in the world. The author's passion, wisdom, and practical guidance make this book a must-read for anyone seeking to start, grow, and sustain a transformative ministry. I wholeheartedly recommend it to women everywhere who are ready to embrace their God-given potential and lead with courage and conviction.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2024Reverend Jocelyn has created paths that are designed to meet the challenges of being a woman and then being a woman in ministry.
I am grateful that, "Sister Start Your Ministry," begins with preparing our hearts and our minds for the journey. So many times those two specific elements are missing in an attempt to get right to the work. I'm often reminded that you need to pause from asking for a hand when you haven't touched the heart.
Your "Why?" will need to be at the forefront.
This book is real and addresses so many scenarios that are reality for me and many others.
I appreciate the volume of information presented to the reader. A Great deal of information has been given to assist and support you on your journey. This information cost, yet she has shared it with others. This just doesn't happen.
Oh, those Challenges after each chapter really help the reader to reflect and build a plan for ministry.
Thank you Rev. Jocelyn

- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2023If you are a Christian woman, looking to leave a legacy, while making an impact on someone else’s life by creating your own ministry, this book is for you.
In “Sister, Start Your Ministry”, a perfect guide, author Jocelyn Jones walks the reader through the necessary steps to achieve success in building a ministry.
The best part is that I found that both guidance and the overall book concept, can be applied to any area of life.
“Sister, Start Your Ministry”, is filled with thought provoking questions, as well as with questions designed to help the reader reflect and align with their “why”.
Jones is very specific about providing the proper way to building a ministry from the bottom up, by addressing the reader’s fears and doubts, by helping them discern their steps, by teaching marketing and developing strategies, while encouraging them to take action; and finally leading the reader into a Ministry Launch Challenge.
To top it off, a free Ministry Starter Kit is provided with tools for a successful launch.
It’s an easy read and a great book!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2023"Sister, Start Your Ministry" is an excellent guide packed with practical strategies and resources. This book incorporates guidance from idea to implementation, starting with identifying the the why behind the decision to building and growing the ministry. I appreciated the incorporation of action items listed as challenges at the end of each chapter which gives the reader a choice to pick the item that best addresses their current situation. The stories Jocelyn Jones integrates into the chapters creates relatability and understanding of key concepts. I was also impressed with the additional resources provided including the "Ministry-Launch Starter kit" accessible through the website. I recommend this book to any woman considering launching a ministry, or anyone who has launched already and feels stuck in the building/growing process.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Engaging Book
"I like how the book, "Sister, Start Your Ministry: A Guide to Start, Grow, and Sustain a Transformative Ministry", is tailored to the reader. As a "sister", when I read the chapters, my mind is molded to think on a personal level rather than as an outsider."
One sentence that has had a profound impact on me is: success does not depend on the number of social media followers, fame, or wealth as those are vanity metrics. True success is determined by how effectively we live out our purpose, our reason for existence - our "why".
Human beings often base their decisions on factors such as the number of followers you have on social media or the views your videos receive. They believe that these metrics indicate whether or not you are favoured by God. Unfortunately, if you have fewer followers or views, you go unnoticed and be overlooked.
However, God always teaches us to be content in every season, whether in plenty or in lack. This is why as the author states we need to look beyond what our eyes see.
As someone who has a YouTube ministry it's a relief to read that one soul matters, no matter how many people view it or not. One soul matters. If one sheep matters to God than one soul matters to me.
Thank you Jocelyn J Jones.
