Now Sloane is my girl lol. Her inner dialogue had me INVESTED! Reading that ending though got me ready for book two. Like i love a good ending but I NEED THE REST! Alexie is my spirit animal! Man is ruthless and i loved how he slightly changed for her lmaooooo! I want to know the name of the baby! Vic’s and Alexie’s dad can go choke on it! He’s literally so mean but i guess that comes with this family territory! I’m glad Alexie got rid of the MC! They knew better than to treat Sloane like that when all she wanted was to go to college and really get out of town and away from that life! I really dislike when people think that just because you were born into a certain environment means you have to stay. It doesn’t! So everybody got what they deserved! Overall great book! Are this book up in like one day! I NEED MORE!

This is dark so check the triggers: there’s a lot of rape/sexual assault of the FMC, whether by the MC gang or by Alexie (MMC). Other triggers would be violence and forced pregnancy.

Sloan is fighting and hating Alexie the whole way through the book but the last 15 pages, we’re supposed to believe she suddenly realizes she loves the man who has raped her or coerced her into sex and kept her locked up, who purposely impregnated her against her will, forced her to marry him, etc. The ending was so rushed - if we’re to believe Sloan actually loves Alexie and forgives him, it would have been nice to see more intimate moments developed throughout the story when she wasn’t being coerced or threatened and it felt more genuine between them.

Ms. Michaels pens dark and slightly depraved romances. Read with caution. Alexie has been exiled to the US where he encounters Sloan and is instantly smitten. Sloan is in an awful situation after the death of her father…the former president of the local MC. She is trapped and used by the gang members…repaying a debt that is not hers. Alexie whisks her away from her current situation….is she jumping from the frying pan into the fire? Alexie is unhinged with glimmers of kindness…his relationship to his young protege Roman for example. This book is entertaining, outlandishly so….and has plenty of dark triggers.

I enjoy a good dark romance. I’ve read several that had topics that were tough to read. But this one just didn’t work for me. Our poor main female character (Sloane) is raped by the MC club in her town. And then she is taken by the main male character (Alexi) and to say he is worse is an understatement. His treatment was gross and brutal. I didn’t get any kind of romantic or loving feelings toward him. I found myself really hoping Sloane would escape and live a life free of all her tormentors. This wasn’t a horrible read, it just didn’t work for me.

This book left me with a weird aftertaste, thus the round down to only 3 stars. The first half kept me really engaged, and it was right up my darkness alley. But at some point, it became both too much and not enough. I can't really explain it any better than that, but I feel like I've felt the same thing with this author before. Things wrapped up a bit too quickly and perfectly at the end, and I'm still on the fence as to whether I continue the series.

First time reading one of Michaels’ books, but it will not be the last!!!!! Looking forward to the next instalment of The Petrov Legacy, but disappointed it’s not out yet. I really want to know what’s going to happen next and feeling a bit impatient lol.

Not 5 star because the final chapter and epilogue felt rushed. These parts could have been fleshed out more to build suspense.

Also, who is Tiffany??? That really confused me. Literally, do I need to skim read the whole thing to try to work it out? I won’t, so if someone can comment to let me know, I’d really appreciate it.

Themes are very dark so I was glad there were trigger warnings given at the start, but there were parts I did skip through because it made for an uncomfortable read (regarding the MC gang).
