After a couple of difficult months , Team PDAG is happy to be back to in-person work, all hale and hearty. The post lockdown period has been a busy one for us, following is a snapshot of what all we have been working towards: Ø Review meetings with the Hon’ble Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Department of Industries to drive the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy, 2021 (Draft) and supporting the department to establish the Jharkhand Investment Promotion Board in order to develop a thriving investor-friendly industrial ecosystem in the state which promotes ease of doing business. Ø Working in close coordination with the Department of Education, Government of Jharkhand, we have been driving the Chief Minister’s Public Schools Transformation Initiative which aims to establish 80 state-of-the-art schools in every district across Jharkhand during Phase 1 and establish one Model School per Panchayat by 2025 during its Phase 2. Ø Our team recently facilitated a video call between the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren to wish luck Deepika Kumari (Archery), Nikki Pradhan (Hockey) and Salima Tete (Hockey), Olympians from Jharkhand who are set to represent India at Tokyo 2020. Ø We have been investing our efforts in ideating and structuring new avenues which can be leveraged or employed to secure the welfare of the migrant workforce in India. We are also supporting the Government of Jharkhand in this case, as the state devises new strategies to protect the rights and ensure access to social welfare benefits for its migrant population. Ø Ending the week on a relaxing note, Team PDAG got together for a ‘Wellness, Stress & Managing Work Life Balance’ workshop on 17th July. Highlights included exchanging stories of the highs and lows experienced during the pandemic, and crash course on stress management along with a lot of laughter and gratefulness. We are excited and looking forward to busier times ahead!

🎬 #WheresPublicinPublicPolicy | Thrilled to introduce our next panellist in our "Where's Public in Public Policy" series for the upcoming edition titled: "Crafting Climate Narratives: Reporting & Storytelling on Climate Migration and Just Transition"! Join us in welcoming Aishwarya Mohanty, an independent journalist with over five years of experience covering rural issues and climate change, focusing on gender, caste, and marginalised communities. 🌴 Recently one of her article’s "No crops, no brides: How rising sea levels are killing India's coastal villages," published by The Migration Story and later republished by the The Guardian, delved into climate-induced #migration along Odisha’s coastline. She sheds light on the profound challenges faced by coastal communities in #Odisha amidst rising sea levels and soil salinity. As the sea encroaches upon villages like Udaykani, livelihoods are devastated, and the once vibrant tradition of weddings fades into memory. It shows how these environmental changes are not just affecting jobs and homes but also making it hard for young people to find partners. Through poignant testimonials and stark realities, she captures the urgency of addressing climate-induced migration and its far-reaching implications on both livelihoods and cultural landscapes. 👉 Read her article: https://lnkd.in/dDKXt4bV 👉 Register here to join the webinar: https://lnkd.in/gxwxYr6G #ClimateNarratives #ClimateMigration #JustTransition #CoastalCommunities #EnvironmentalChallenges #Webinar #PublicPolicySeries #WheresPublicinPublicPolicy

#ClimateChange | The Supreme Court's landmark order on April 8 signifies a pivotal step towards the constitutional imperative to safeguard lives and equality amidst climate change challenges. Triggered by a petition from wildlife activist MK Ranjitsinh and others, the court's ruling emphasised the constitutional guarantee of rights to #life and #equality, enshrined under Article 14 and Article 21. 🌾 🏭 The Supreme Court’s acknowledgement of the multifaceted impacts of climate change—ranging from air pollution and health crises to agricultural disruptions and natural disasters—serves as a call for comprehensive action. As India strives to meet its sustainable development goals, this landmark ruling underscores the imperative of harmonising conservation imperatives with renewable energy initiatives, thereby charting a path towards a more resilient and equitable future. This judgement also underscores the need to have the voices, concerns and challenges faced by vulnerable population groups due to climate change, well represented in any form of policy planning design and implementation of climate adaptation, mitigation and resilience measures. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gErZv8VB #ClimateChange #RenewableEnergy #GreatIndianBustard #EnvironmentalJustice #SustainableDevelopment #CarbonFootprint #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction #EcosystemProtection
