The Museum-Apartment of Nikolai Andreevich Rimsky-Korsakov is a St. Petersburg museum dedicated to the life and work of the famous composer, a branch of the St. Petersburg Museum of Theater and Musical Art.
The museum occupies the space of an apartment in the courtyard wing at 28 Zagorodny Prospekt. In this house, Nikolai Andreevich Rimsky-Korsakov wrote 11 operas in 1893-1908 and conducted the famous “Korsakov Wednesdays”.
The museum is divided into three departments: memorial, exposition and concert. The interiors of the memorial rooms were restored according to the notes of one of the composer’s sons, who compiled a detailed inventory of furniture and things with their exact location. The decoration of the rooms was preserved by descendants in its original form. In the rest of the space, exposition and concert halls were organized. The museum collection includes 505 exhibits.
In the concert hall, designed for 50 seats, the tradition of creative evenings on Wednesdays continues. The cycle “Evenings in the House on Zagorodny” includes performances by opera soloists, St. Petersburg singers and musicians. Every year on March 18, in honor of the composer’s birthday, concerts are transferred to the memorial living room. Since 2012, the museum has been hosting concerts of organ music performed on an electronic organ.
For schoolchildren, a cycle of concerts by young musicians “Musical Youth of St. Petersburg”, held on Saturdays, is intended. The history of the life and work of Rimsky-Korsakov is told by a series of interactive lectures.

The Monument to Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov is located on Theater Square near the building of the Leningrad Conservatory (in front of the Mariinsky Theatre), whose professor N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov was for almost forty years.
