Dr Vorontsova had been planning to build a new ultra-modern medical centre near St. Petersburg, but Western sanctions over the war in Ukraine have sunk the project.

“The plans were to attract patients from Europe and rich sheikhs from the Persian Gulf countries,” reported Russian investigative journalist Sergey Kanev.

“And now, after the attack on Ukraine, what kind of Europeans and sheikhs will come?”

She’s known to enjoy travel in Western countries, although her position on her father’s invasion in Ukraine is not publicly known.

She, along with her sister Katerina, deputy director of the Institute for Mathematical Research of Complex Systems at Moscow State University, has made no statements on what Putin still insists on calling the “special military operation” in Ukraine.

The women also have a half-sister, Elizaveta Krivonogikh, who is also known as Luiza Rozova. She’s the daughter of former cleaner Svetlana Krivonogikh, 45, who since her reported affair with Putin has become the co-owner of a major Russian bank.

Putin – like many in his inner circle – is believed to have had at least two wives and an unknown number of children. He’s very dismissive of enquiries about his private life, saying: “I have a private life in which I do not permit interference. It must be respected.”

He expressed a strong dislike of “those who with their snotty noses and erotic fantasies prowl into others’ lives”.
