Budget 2020-21: Federal government allocates Rs14bn for three hospitals in Karachi

The Federal government has allocated funds for three hospitals in Karachi.

According to details, the federal budget 2020-21 statement mentioned that the government has allocated Rs14.18 billion for three hospitals. The federal government has allocated Rs. 9.242bn for the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), Rs. 3.877bn for Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), and Rs. 1.07bn for National Institute of Child Health (NICH).

Over Rs. 9.24bn have been fixed that meant to run the main NICVD center in Karachi and its satellites and chest pain units in other areas of Sindh.

On the other hand, Rs3.87bn has been allocated for JPMC; Rs1.54bn for its operational expenses and Rs158.66 million for repairs and maintenance.

Coronavirus pandemic is increasing fast in Africa, WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday that coronavirus pandemic is increasing in rural areas in Africa as international travelers came in the capital cities.

However, WHO said that there is no indication that the virus has led to infections in refugee camps in Africa, or a large number of severe cases and deaths were being neglected.

According to the international news agency, the WHO’s Africa regional director said that ten countries in the continent have been affected.

Seventy-five percent of some 207,600 cases on the continent and around 5,000 deaths have been confirmed.

She said that South Africa has a quarter of all cases and is affected the most. South Africa has eased lockdown last month.
