Walthamstow 5K Santa Run on Saturday 11 December at 10.30am

Hi <<First Name>>,

Thanks for signing up to take part in the third Walthamstow 5K Santa Run - a festive 5K around the most iconic site in Waltham Forest.

Before Saturday and during the event, tag @WFSportLeisure in your Instagram posts! See below for details of FREE COFFEE from @fellowship_foods.

If you have any questions that aren't answered here, there's details on how to get in touch at the end of this email.

Before Saturday

Think about any other training or exercise you have done and what you should eat and drink in the 24 hours before the event. If you're not confident at being able to run 5K, be prepared to take it easier, particularly for the first half, and remember that you're welcome to jog or walk any or all of the course.

Plan your journey carefully! Detailed and current information for travelling to the Town Hall can be found using the links at the bottom of this email.

Finding us at Waltham Forest Town Hall
Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, London E17 4JF

On foot: you can enter via any of the Forest Road, Farnham Avenue or Spruce Hills Road (via Chestnuts Field) entrances.

By vehicle: enter via Farnham Avenue for the car park entrance to the rear of the Magistrates Court building. You'll see signs for 'race car park' as you approach and stewards at the entrance. Parking is free on Saturdays.

For public transport information, plan your journey using the TfL Journey planner. Waltham Forest Town Hall is served by several local bus routes and walkable from Walthamstow Central tube and rail station.

We'll be taking over the Fellowship Square in front of the town hall building, so you'll see us as soon as you arrive.

Arrivals, registration and Santa Suits!

Registration opens at 9.30am. Collect your race number no later than 10.15am from our gazebos on the lawns in front of the main town hall building.

All race numbers are held for collection. You will not receive anything in the post before the race.

You don't need a printed booking confirmation, but be prepared to show identification when asked for your name to collect your race number and Santa Suit.

Santa Suits are available in one adult size, and one children's size. Change into it wearing as much or as little of it as you like - there are no rules!

Take your race number, attach it to the front of the shirt you will be running in with four safety pins that will be provided at registration. You can pin your number to your santa jacket, but in case you take it off during the run, it's better placed on your usual running shirt.

On-the-day registration is available subject to a few places remaining, but if you know someone who is yet to enter online tell them to act fast to guarantee their place.

Toilets, changing and bag drop

There are free toilets in Walthamstow Assembly Hall for you to use. There are no dedicated changing rooms or showers, so please arrive ready to run and bring warm clothes for afterwards.

Clothing, bags, keys and phones can be left at our bag drop. Your race number has a tear-off strip on the bottom that should be attached to anything you leave with us for easy post-run collection.

The Run

The run starts promptly at 10.30am. We'll make announcements asking you and move into the start area shortly before the run.

The course is two laps on a mix of tarmac road, grass field and athletics track. The field section may be muddy if we've had recent rain.

The course is marshalled, signed with arrows and has kilometre markers.

There is a water station at the half way point.

Spectators

Spectators can watch from anywhere on the course and will see you pass twice wherever they are. The Fellowship Foods cafe will be open in Walthamstow Assembly Hall for refreshments, right next to the start / finish line.

Free Coffee for Runners!

The lovely folks at Fellowship Foods, the cafe inside Walthamstow Assembly Hall, are offering a free coffee to every runner. Just show your runner number either before or after your run.

After the run

When you've recovered, collect your special sparkly Santa medal, mince pie and goody bag from next to the finish area.

Don't forget to collect any belongings you've left with us in the Assembly Hall. Any lost property or left belongings will be taken to our central London office.

Your result

A complete set of results will be posted online and emailed to all runners on Saturday afternoon.
