Young Disease Outburst Boy Anime Reveals 1st Promo Video, Opening Song

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Series based on Vocaloid song debuts in October

The official website for Chūbyō Gekihatsu Boy, the television anime of Vocaloid producer rerulili's "Young disease outburst Boy" ("Chūbyō Gekihatsu Boy") song and Minato Tonami's slice-of-life comedy novel adaptation, revealed the first promotional video and opening theme song on Friday. The video introduces the anime's six main characters.

The anime's five main male cast members are performing the opening song "Chūbyō Gekihatsu Boy" under the group name Minakami High School Heroes. The song's single will ship on November 6.

The website also posted the first part of an online-exclusive short story for the series.

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and BS11 in October. The anime stars:

Kazuya Ichikawa (Clean Freak! Aoyama kun, Bakugan Battle Planet, Monster Strike the Animation) is directing the anime at Studio DEEN. Midori Gotou (Hozuki's Coolheadedness all three seasons, Clean Freak! Aoyama kun) is overseeing the series scripts, and Yusa Matsuura (Clean Freak! Aoyama kun chief animation director) is designing the characters for animation. Satoshi Motoyama is directing the sound at Ai Addiction, and TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND is composing the music. Lantis is producing the music.

Nakamura is performing the ending theme song "Here comes The SUN." The song marks Nakamura's solo artist debut, and the debut single for the song will ship on October 30.

The story centers around Mizuki Hijiri, a high school girl who just transferred schools. At her new school, she has a fateful encounter with boys suffering from chūnibyō (adolescent delusions of grandeur). There is NODA who dreams of becoming a hero, the tragically handsome otaku Takashima who only likes 2D girls, Nakamura the supposedly "reincarnated" angel or devil, and the self-professed string-puller Tsukumo.

Videos tied to rerulili's Vocaloid songs have garnered over 100 million views. The "Young disease outburst Boy" song inspired both a stage play and a manga series adaptation by Megumi Hazuki in 2017. Kadokawa has published five volumes of Tonami's main novel series, and four volumes of Tonami's Chūbyō Gekihatsu Boy: Seishun Shōkōgun novels. Kadokawa Shoten's online Gene pixiv service will serialize the manga adaptation of the television anime.
