The third national capacity building programme on child rights and business will provide an overview of the new developments and changes in the EU legislation relevant to the impact of business on children. It will build upon companies’ social investments, ESG reporting and focus on their contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Renowned Bulgarian experts will present practical tools and guidelines, which can help to increase business' positive impact on children's welfare and integrate children's rights into corporate policies, business processes and non-financial reports.

About the program:

  • Module 1 Children’s Rights and Business Principles These are the first global comprehensive set of principles to guide companies on the full range of actions they can take in the workplace, marketplace and community to respect and support children’s rights. They are built on existing standards, initiatives and best practices related to business and children, and seek to fill gaps to present a coherent vision for business to maximize the positive impacts and minimize negative impacts on children.

  • Module 2 SDGs and the contribution of Business - Covering a wide spectrum of sustainable development topics relevant to companies – such as poverty, health, education, climate change and environmental degradation – the UN Sustainable Development Goals help to connect business strategies with global priorities. 
    Online session: 19-20 May 2021

 

  • Module 3 UNICEF and Business: Shared Value Partnerships All over the world UNICEF and Business identify, engage and co-create win-win partnerships that contribute to Agenda 2030 on sustainable development. They are based on UNICEF’s mandate to safeguard the rights of all children and understand the various ways private sector impacts on children: as provider of goods and services; as employer; on communities and environment; as a source of technology, innovation and financing; and as a voice and influence in society.

Learning Outcomes

  • A global perspective - to understand the sustainable development challenges in society and the role of Business.
  • Strong business focus - to learn how business interacts with children and scope of corporate responsibility towards children in the workplace, marketplace and community.
  • A competitive skill set - to critically select on different strategies on how companies can respect children’s rights through their core business actions (to inspire for policy commitments, business processes, etc.)
  • A SVP forward vision on developing and implementing shared value partnerships contributing to safeguarding children’s rights.

 

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE 
Specialists in the field of corporate social responsibility, human resources, health and safety, social work, education, legal compliance, finance, coming from business, government and civil sector may apply for participation.

 

HOW TO APPLY

The Spring edition of the Academy will be conducted online. Professionals wishing to join the trainings can submit their applications until 23:59 on April 22, 2022 by filling out this Registration Form.

  • They will be trained in the course of six full days in the winter semester (see dates above).
  • Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the full course.
