Indonesian guy drives Internet crazy after he marries his rice cooker

The perfect spouse, it seems.
Indonesian guy drives Internet crazy after he marries his rice cooker

What makes the perfect spouse? Depending on who you ask, each person's criteria for a life partner may include anything from having good looks, to being rich, to being able make their lover laugh, to being a good cook.

In Indonesia, a man has caused a bit of a ruckus by seemingly disregarding all romantic conventions and marrying his rice cooker. Yes, the electric appliance used to make fluffy rice for everyday meals.

The man's "wedding ceremony" to his beloved appliance went viral on Twitter after he shared a bunch of photos showing him dressed up in fancy wedding attire, while the rice – apparently made by Phillips – donned a bride's veil to make everything seem more authentic.

The man even captioned the photos by calling his plastic spouse "white (fair), doesn't talk much, and great at cooking" – three qualities that all technically describe the rice cooker to a tee.

One of the images showed the man sharing a "kiss" with the appliance, while another showed him sitting before a registration table alongside the rice cooker as they "signed" their marriage papers.

Obviously, the whole incident was nothing more than a joke (I hope), and was done most probably for the sake of getting a bit of coveted internet fame. I mean, we've definitely seen crazier things done in the name of getting some clout online.

Still, judging by the amount of likes, comments, and retweets, the man's stunt worked as intended, with many netizens congratulating the "happy couple" on their marriage, and some others even saying that they were considering starting a romance with their own household appliances.

Although he managed to get more than a few people laughing, the whole rice cooker marriage still got us curious: What other household appliance could technically offer us the traits many of us would desire in a soulmate?

If you ask me, I'd probably say my flat-screen LED TV: bright, slim, and entertaining throughout the day.

No going wrong with that!
