For many years the Pre-A Level course at Chase Grammar School has provided a wonderful pathway for international students to join in with current students for a year before entering Year 12. Students are welcome to join us on this course in September, January or April, with progression into our 6th form following in the next academic year.
This course is designed to maximize integration, both with the curriculum students are learning, and also socially, by having students work alongside our English pupils. In addition, our House system in boarding means friends are quickly made, enabling students to settle in and work on improving their academic and language skills alongside students from the UK and beyond.
The course offers students the comprehensive preparation required to enable progression to study A Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business, Computer Science and related disciplines. It is also an accepted pathway onto the International Foundation Diploma course in Business, Finance and Information Technology which is run and assessed by NCC and offered at Chase Grammar School.

The international Foundation Diploma (IFD) is a one year course that is designed to allow students to progress directly onto a wide array of university courses both in the UK and around the world. It is in alternative course to the traditional two year A level and Btec programmes, and is a qualification that is growing in popularity.
Any student from outside the UK who is aged 16-19 is eligible to study the IFD. The course is traditionally studied by students who may require additional English classes, are too old to start a two year programme and therefore wish for a quicker route to university, or for students who may struggle on the longer Alevel and Btec course routes.
A student on the IFD can expect to have a full, diverse and enjoyable timetable which focuses on eight key areas. Across each area, students can expect a variety of assessment methods including exams, coursework and presentations.
Students can expect to study: Business studies, Computer Science, Maths, Developing English, Advanced English, English for Academic Purposes, Cultural Studies, Study and Communication skills
