FUCHSIA DEPLOYMENT & PROAS BY ALEJANDRO PROPATO
The Argentinian architect and sculptor Alejandro Propato designs monumental installations that are inspired by nature and interact with its surroundings. In November, Propato will present two installations at the fair, Fuchsia Deployment and PROAS. Fuchsia Deployment is an impressive installation which will be suspended from the ceiling of De Kromhouthal using 4500-metres of rope. The installation will hover above our central bar. PROAS is a site specific installation created for the entrance the fair. It is composed of six pyramidal prisms constructed with fuchsia strings.

SPOTLIGHT ON SPAIN
We’re excited to introduce you to our brand new ‘Spotlight’ section of the fair. Starting with our 2023 edition, this section will each year highlight a country, technique, style or theme. The upcoming edition will put the spotlight on Spain. You’ll be treated to a whole neighbourhood of Spanish galleries gathered together to share the work of their artists alongside one another.
The Spotlight on Spain section will bring together six Spanish galleries including Al Contar del Arte (Aranda de Duero), Maria Aguilar (Novo Sancti Petri, Chiciana), Anquins Gallery (Reus), Espai Cavallers Gallery (Lleida), Juca Claret (Madrid) and Occo Art Gallery (Madrid). They will show works by over 30 artists such as Fran Mora, Eduardo Query, Jaime Sicilia, Diego Beneitez, Lil Blanc, Magí Puig and Sonia Alins.

URBAN ART & BEYOND
This year the fair will present an Urban Art & Beyond section around the Bar Noord. The five galleries that make up this section represent artists with a focus on urban art and street art. Among them are Frankey and Leon Keer (Wanrooij Gallery) from the Netherlands, Steve Locatelli, Oli-B and Piroeh One (ART-Gallery.be) from Belgium, PIMAX (Pop My Duke) and Onemizer (Galerie One) from France, Tellas from Italy and Mando Marie and Bisco Smith from the United States (STRAAT).
ENJOY THE UNEXPECTED
Dutch artist Malou Cohen will be presenting at the fair a series of new works inspired by objects and situations found on a weekend trip to Switzerland’s capital of culture, Basel. In this special collaboration with Switzerland Tourism and Basel Tourism, Malou’s works encourage visitors to reconsider the role of unexpected materials and happenings in life and travel.
Malou works with ‘found objects’; a gold-colored candy wrapper, plastic flowers pulled from the dumpster, or fragments from a conversation. These objects, situations and images serve as gateways to new worlds. Malou Cohen graduated from HKU Fine Arts in 2010 and works in Deventer and Zutphen in the Netherlands.

EMERGING ARTISTS PRESENTED BY AVROTROS
Culture connects us. The diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of young creatives play a pivotal role in this connection. AVROTROS is dedicated to championing these talented individuals in their quest to promote cultural diversity, with the ultimate goal to ensure that a broader range of voices and stories are shared. The exhibition brings together works by three artists based in The Netherlands: paintings by Nikè Marchand and Niels Egidius, ceramics and etchings by Sjahrzad Khodadadeh.
THE HAPPY TRIP
Dynamic Belgian duo, ROXEHA, formed by Roxanne Wegscheider and Denis Auspert, will invite visitors to participate in their project, The Happy Trip, a 5m long doodle which includes funky characters and asymmetric shapes. This joyful mural will come to life as creative visitors ‘add the colour’ over the course of the fair. Inspired by artists such as Keith Haring, Romero Britto, Tom Wesselmann and Niki de Saint Phalle, works currently for sale by this playful pair will also be on display at their stand.
CATAWIKI x AFFORDABLE ART FAIR
A branded auction will be running from 3 to 12 November 2023 featuring around 50 artworks selected by Catawiki and Affordable Art Fair. Discover the work of contemporary artists with international acclaim and affordable prices in this collaborative auction. Highlights include: photographs by Spanish artist Téber and paintings by Dutch artists Joost Verhagen and Frederick Geertman. They all use colour and form in their unique way, spanning from expressive to geometric compositions.
UPWAY x YAMUNA FORZANI
In a collaboration between Dutch Design Award-winning artist Yamuna Forzani (represented by Amsterdam-based gallery Rademakers Gallery), Upway and Affordable Art Fair, we are thrilled to unveil a unique, one-of-a-kind art e-bike, which you can take home through our sealed-bid charity auction happening during the fair.
