Let's Go Walthamstow 5K & Fun Run on Monday 30 August 2021

We're looking forward to welcoming you to the very first Let's Go Walthamstow 5K & Fun Run. We're celebrating being able to be out together again in our community, running on our High St and Town Square at the heart of Walthamstow. 

If you know anyone who would like to run who hasn't entered, bring them along - we'll have entries on the day available from 10.15am!

Along with our family fun run at 11.00am and 5K at 11.15am, there's a selection of our favourite food and drink sellers from Walthamstow Sunday Social market set up especially for us in our finish area. Your medal will get you an extra discount! Stick around and refuel on the Town Square and celebrate with your fellow runners. 

In this email, you'll find all of the information you need to have a great morning out.

Download the NHS COVID-19 Test and Trace App

You will need to scan the check in code as you enter the registration area using the NHS Test and Trace app where possible. If you do not have a compatible device, the health declaration you submit prior to the event will suffice.

Download it from the App Store for iPhone, or the Google Play app store for Android devices.

Finding us in the Walthamstow Town Square

We'll be right next to the big screen between the bus station and The Mall shopping centre. Follow the signs for 'Number Pick Up' when you arrive.

Arrival

Number pick-up will be open from 10.15am. Please do not arrive any earlier. 

As you enter the event area, you'll need to scan the NHS Test and Trace QR code with your smartphone if you have it. 

Registration

At number pick-up, you'll be asked for your name to confirm your details before collecting a race number and safety pins. 

Once you have your number bib, move to the preparation area to complete the emergency details on the reverse and attach it to the top you'll be running in. 

Toilets

Toilets will be available inside The Mall shopping centre - a few minutes walk away. Please wear a face covering indoors if you can.

Bag Drop

Please bring as little as possible with you, but a supervised self-service bag drop facility will be available for anything you need to leave with us whilst you run.

There's a tear-off strip on the bottom of your race number that you should attach to anything you want to leave with us. After your run, make sure you're still wearing your number to collect anything you've left with us.
The Run

10.15am - Number Pick Up & Enquiries Open
11.00am - 1K Fun Run Starts
11.15am - 5K Run Starts

The 1K fun run course will be mainly in the Town Square with a short section around the corner on to the High St. If you having children running that you are not running with, please spectate from the centre of the course to keep your child in sight at all times. 

The 5K run course will be a 2.5K lap, so 2 laps for the 5K. The second time you come by the finish, come through the archway into the finish area.

For a section of the run, you'll be on public streets adjacent to the High St where you must follow marshal instructions and stay on the pavement - be cautious of pedestrians and residents coming in or out of their homes.

Marshals will be cheering you around and signage will ensure you follow the course safely.

Spectators

Your friends and family will be able to spot you from anywhere on the course and will be encouraged to use plenty of space.

Finish line

Please follow the signage and marshal directions when you cross the finish line.

Once you've had a moment to recover, collect your water and rewards, including your special Let's Go Walthamstow medal.

Once you’ve collected your rewards, pick up any belongings you've left at bag drop and don't forget to take a selfie before you get too far from the finish!

Stick around for a while and use your medal for a special discount at the Walthamstow Sunday Social food and drink stalls.

After the race

Once all runners are finished, we'll send you an email with a full set of results and a link to view the official race photos.
