16 February 2023, 13:30 - 17:15 (GMT+2:00) ‘Financing Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Sub-Saharan Africa : Creating Value for People and Value for the Future’ Introduction: Global interest in investing in SSA continues to increase as the world comes out of the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic and refocuses on impending infrastructure needs and urgency to pivot to address the climate crisis. As governments all over the world continue to try and ‘build forward better’, the role of partnerships between the public and the private sector remains pivotal to this process. Objective of the Africa PPP Day 2023 The Africa PPP Day will host international experts from within the WAPPP global network of PPP practitioners and other partners currently working in Africa such as the African Legal Support Facility and the African Finance Corporation. The objective of the event is to engage with multiple stakeholders on the subject to attain the following goals by the end of the event: * Discuss the challenges to financing PPPs in SSA; * Explore the potential solutions to mobilize both domestic and foreign financing in SSA PPP projects; * Leverage the transition to a green, resilient, and inclusive future by kick-starting PPPs with impact; *Elevate the discussion on how to make PPPs more affordable and accessible for the public sector, private sector and civil society.
