    The downtown area is situated along a river, which is quite beautiful. Mainly, the town is fairly well developed. There is not a plethora of good restaurants there like you would find in Yerevan, but the shopping is pretty good and you can find what you need/want. The surrounding countryside is magnificent, as is all of the north of Armenia. Probably if there is ever extended, long-term peace in the area, it will draw a lot more tourists in the future. Don't miss Makaravank, if only for the car ride up to the monastery. Well worth the trip.

    It's a small town in the North of Armenia.

    It's a small town in the North of Armenia. It has beautiful nature and scenery to enjoy, hike, climb, etc. The Yell extreme park right next to Ijevan, located in the village of Yenokavan, is a must experience for sure!
