Als Internationale Rettungshunde Organisation vereinen wir viele wunderbare Menschen, heldenhafte Vierbeiner und engagierte Mitgliedsorganisationen. Naturgemäß gibt es da viele spannende Geschichten zu erzählen. In der letzten Ausgabe starteten wir mit einem kleinen Einblick in den Büroalltag der IRO Geschäftsstelle und dieses Mal rücken wir eine Mitgliedsorganisation ins Rampenlicht.
Mit der 108. IRO Vorstandssitzung sowie der Richtervorprüfung haben Ende Februar zudem zwei wichtige Termine stattgefunden. Auch hier gibt es einiges zu berichten.
Und natürlich haben wir aktuelle Informationen zu den Auswirkungen des Coronavirus auf IRO Veranstaltungen für euch.

IRO Reaktion auf COVID-19
|

|
Aufgrund der aktuellen Lage hat der IRO Vorstand beschlossen, sämtliche Veranstaltungen wie Prüfungen, Trainings, Einsatztests, usw. bis Ende Mai zu verschieben beziehungsweise abzusagen.
Auch die IRO Trainingsanlage in Ulrichsberg/Schöneben (AT) bleibt bis 31.05.2020 vorübergehend geschlossen.
Die Fristsetzung bis Ende Mai ist eine vorläufige und wird sich an der weiteren Ausbreitung des Coronavirus orientieren.
Unsere Mission ist die Rettung von Menschenleben. Diese Aufgabe haben wir über die Jahre konsequent verfolgt und werden das auch in Zukunft tun. Daher sehen wir es als unsere Verpflichtung, uns an den weltweiten Maßnahmen zu einer Verlangsamung der pandemischen Ausbreitung des Coronavirus zu beteiligen.
Gegen Coronavirus: Was kann jeder tun?
Gute und regelmäßige Handhygiene, Menschenmengen meiden, und euch über die weiteren Maßnahmen in eurer Region informieren, mit denen ihr zur Eindämmung dieser Infektion beitragen könnt. Solidarität ist jetzt notwendig. Jeder kann zum Schutz von älteren und gefährdeten Personen und zur Sicherstellung unserer Gesundheitssysteme beitragen.
Die IRO ist ein starkes Netzwerk an engagierten Rettungshundeorganisationen weltweit. In Ausnahmesituationen wie diesen gilt es noch enger zusammenzuhalten als wir das ohnehin tun.

Wenn Unfälle oder Katastrophen passieren und Menschen in Not geraten, sind professionell ausgebildete Rettungshundeteams oftmals die einzige Hoffnung. Das zeigte sich vergangenes Jahr in einem Einsatz der IRO Mitgliedsorganisation Finn Rescue K9 Association (FRF K9).
Im Juni 2019 war ein 70-jähriger an Alzheimer erkrankter Mann zu einer Radtour aufgebrochen und nicht mehr heimgekehrt. Da es nach zwei Tagen immer noch keine Spur zu dem Vermissten gab, wurden Rettungshundeteams der FRF K9 zur Hilfe gerufen, darunter Ritva Holmström mit Hund Ruu. Das Suchgebiet wurde aufgeteilt und es wurden zwei Einheiten gebildet. Die Suche in Ritvas zugewiesenem Bereich blieb erfolglos. Sie entschloss sich daher gemeinsam mit Ruu die Trupps im zweiten Suchgebiet zu unterstützen. Bereits kurze Zeit später fand der Hund die Geldbörse des Mannes sowie einen Schuh. Dank dieser Spur gelang es der Polizei und der Rettungshundestaffel den Mann wohlbehalten aufzufinden.
Nur drei Monate nach dem Einsatz stellten Ritva und Ruu ihr Können bei den IRO Weltmeisterschaften in Villejust (FR) unter Beweis. In der Einzelwertung Trümmersuche platzierten sich die beiden direkt unter den Top 15 und in der Teamwertung holten sie sich mit FRF K9 sogar den Weltmeistertitel.

108. IRO Vorstandssitzung: News & Updates

Taktische Einschränkung für die FL-B WM 2020 laut IPO-R 2019 Punkt 1.1.
Es wurde beschlossen, dass das Flächengelände bei der IRO WM 2020 auf 100 m Breite und 300 m Länge, mit einem Pfad in der Mitte, auf dem sich der Hundeführer bewegt, festgesetzt wird. Beurteilt wird nach IPO-R 2019.
Qualifikationsmodus für zukünftige Lawinen Weltmeisterschaften
Es wurde der Beschluss gefasst, dass IPO-R Level B Prüfungen, die keine IRO Prüfungen sind, für die Qualifikation zur Lawinen WM zählen, sofern diese von IRO oder FCI Richtern abgenommen werden und im Qualifikationszeitraum sind.

Am 28.02.2020 fand in der IRO Geschäftsstelle in Salzburg die Vorprüfung der Richteranwärter 2020 statt. Folgende Bewerber haben den Test bestanden und werden zur Richteranwartschaft eingeladen:

As International Search and Rescue Dog Organisation we unite many wonderful people, heroic four-legged friends and dedicated member organisations. Naturally there are many exciting stories to tell. While you got a sneak peek into the IRO office life in the last issue, we decided to put a member organisation in the spotlight this time.
With the 108th IRO Board Meeting and the Judges’ Pre-Test, we also had two important events taking place at the end of February. Also here, we have some interesting news & updates to share.
And of course we have current information about the effects of the Coronavirus on IRO events for you.

Due to the current situation, the IRO Executive Board has decided to postpone or cancel all events such as Testing events, trainings, MRTs, etc. until the end of May.
The IRO training grounds in Ulrichsberg/Schöneben (AT) will also be temporarily closed until 31/05/2020.
The deadline until the end of May is a provisional one and will be based on the further spread of the Coronavirus.
Our mission is to save human lives. We have consistently pursued this mission over the years and will continue to do so in the future. We therefore see it as our duty to participate in the global measures to slow down the pandemic spread of the Coronavirus.
Against Coronavirus: What can everyone do?
Good and regular hand hygiene, avoid crowds, and inform yourself about further measures in your region that you can take to prevent Coronavirus. Solidarity is needed now. Everyone can contribute to protecting the elderly and vulnerable, and to ensuring that our health systems can work.
The IRO is a strong network of dedicated search and rescue dog organisations worldwide. In exceptional situations such as these, we need to support each other even more than we do anyway.

When accidents or disasters happen and people are in need, professionally trained search & rescue dog teams are often the last hope for survival. This was shown last year in an operation of the IRO member organisation Finn Rescue K9 Association (FRF K9).
In June 2019, a 70-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease had set off on a bicycle tour and never returned home. As there was still no trace of the missing man after two days, FRF K9 search & rescue dog teams were called in to help, including Ritva Holmström with dog Ruu. The search area was divided and two units were formed. The search in Ritva’s assigned area remained unsuccessful. She therefore decided to support the troops in the second search area. Only a short time later the dog found the man’s wallet and a shoe. Thanks to this lead, the police and the search & rescue dog teams were able to find the man in good health.
Only three months after the mission Ritva and Ruu proved their skills at the IRO World Championship in Villejust (FR). In the individual rubble search ranking the two placed directly under the top 15 and in the team ranking they even won the world championship title with FRF K9.

108th IRO Executive Board Meeting: News & Updates

|
Tactical limitation at the FL-B WCH 2020 according to IPO-R 2019 point 1.1.
The decision was made that for the IRO WCH 2020 the area will be 100 m wide and 300 m long, with a path in the middle on which the dog handler moves along. The evaluation is according to IPO-R 2019.
Qualification mode for future Avalanche World Championships
It was decided that IPO-R Level B exams, which are not IRO exams, count for the qualification for the Avalanche World Championship, provided that they are conducted by IRO or FCI judges and are within the qualification period.
