This course takes an in-depth look at the book Hacking School Discipline by Nathan Maynard and Brad Weinstein. Using the 9 hacks discussed in the book and throughout this course, participants will learn ways to “create a culture of empathy and responsibility using restorative justice.” Goals for this course are: reduce repeated negative behaviors, build student self-regulation and empathy, enhance communication and collaboration, identify the true cause of negative behaviors, and use restorative circles to reflect on behaviors and discuss impactful change. Participants earn 4 PDUs upon the successful completion of this course.
