In den Wochen seit der letzten Newsletter-Ausgabe ist wieder einiges passiert. Es gibt unter anderem Neuigkeiten zum Qualifikationsmodus für die 26. IRO Weltmeisterschaft für Rettungshunde. Darüber hinaus haben wir die Richteranwärterschulung Anfang März erfolgreich als Online-Event abgehalten.
Virtuelle Veranstaltungen werden bestimmt noch für eine gewisse Zeit Teil unseres Alltags sein. Deshalb möchten wir auch in diesem Jahr den bevorstehenden Internationalen Tag des Rettungshundes mit euch gemeinsam digital feiern. Wie genau das aussehen soll, könnt ihr hier nachlesen.

Qualifikationsmodus:
IRO WM 2021
|
|
Auf Grund der anhaltenden COVID-19 Pandemie wird der Qualifikationsmodus für die WM 2021 abgeändert:
Es werden alle IPO-R Prüfungen (FCI/IRO) für die WM-Qualifikation 2021 gültig sein, die im Zeitraum von 22.09.2019 – 30.06.2021 mit der erforderlichen Mindestpunktezahl abgelegt wurden.
Eine Entscheidung, ob die Weltmeisterschaft wie geplant abgehalten werden kann, wird zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt getroffen.

IRO Richteranwärterschulung
|
|
|
Von 06. – 07. März fand die IRO Richteranwärterschulung im virtuellen Raum statt. Die Teilnehmer erhielten im Rahmen der Fortbildung anhand von Präsentationen und Videos wertvolle Einblicke in die Arbeit eines Richters.
Ein herzliches DANKESCHÖN an unsere drei Instruktoren-Richter Astrid Laner, Walter Hoffmann und Pavel Šabacký sowie unsere beiden Referenten Jerneja Ternovec (Ausbildung) und Vedran Vukomanović (Marketing & PR) für die informative Gestaltung der Schulung. Gleichsam danken wir auch den Richteranwärtern für ihre aktive Mitwirkung.

Fördergeldausschüttung
|
|
Da wir einige Unterlagen bezüglich Einstufung und Fördergeld erst vor kurzem erhalten haben, kann es bei der Auszahlung des Fördergeldes unter Umständen zu einer Verzögerung kommen.
Wichtiger Hinweis: Sollten Unterlagen noch nicht vollständig an die IRO Geschäftsstelle geschickt worden sein, bitten wir dringend um Übermittlung bis spätestens Montag, 22.03.2021. Wenn die Dokumente bis dahin nicht komplett vorliegen, kann das Fördergeld nicht ausbezahlt werden. NROs, die nicht die entsprechenden Unterlagen geschickt haben, werden als assoziiertes Mitglied eingestuft.

Seit der Gründung 1993 ist die Zahl der Mitgliedsorganisationen der IRO stetig gewachsen. Wir freuen uns über die Verstärkung unseres globalen Netzwerkes durch folgende vier Organisationen:
Wir heißen die NROs herzlich willkommen und freuen uns auf die Zusammenarbeit.
Gleichzeitig möchten wir verkünden, dass das THW – Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk mit Jahresbeginn aus der IRO ausgetreten ist. Nichtsdestotrotz bleiben der kontinuierliche Austausch von Expertise sowie die Nutzung von Synergien ein beiderseitiges Bestreben.
Die IRO ist ein weltweiter Zusammenschluss von 126 nationalen Rettungshunde Organisationen aus 43 Nationen, vereint durch ein gemeinsames Ziel: Leben retten.

Initiative zum Internationalen Tag des Rettungshundes
|
|
Am Sonntag, 25.04.2021 ist Internationaler Tag des Rettungshundes. Dieser Tag wird begangen, um die wertvolle Arbeit unserer Rettungshundeteams zu präsentieren.
Auch wenn die Organisation von öffentlichen Live-Veranstaltungen oder Probetrainings noch nicht möglich ist, können wir den Leuten trotzdem einen Einblick in die erfüllende Rettungshundearbeit geben.
Wie wollen wir das machen? Wir werden eine Spendenaktion auf Facebook ins Leben rufen und möchten EUCH bitten, in der Woche vor diesem besonderen Tag Bilder und Videos von euren Aktivitäten als Rettungshundeführer unter dem Hashtag #irodogs zu posten.
Wir werden euch informieren, sobald die Kampagne startet und danken euch schon jetzt für eure Mitwirkung.
Lasst uns diesen Tag gemeinsam zu etwas Besonderem machen!

Historisches über den Hund

Habt ihr gewusst, dass Hunde bereits in der römischen Antike nachweislich ihre Spuren hinterlassen haben, und das sogar in relativ großer Zahl?
Das ist sehr gut belegt durch Pfotenabdrücke auf römischen Ziegeln. Die Ziegel wurden vor dem Brand zum Trocknen ausgelegt. Wenn die Brennöfen sich auf dem Areal eines römischen Gutshofes befanden, konnte es natürlich passieren, dass viele der dort freilaufenden Hunde und Paarhufer zufällig ihre Trittspuren im feuchten Ton hinterließen.
Einige Zoologen und Veterinärmediziner kamen jedoch zu der Überzeugung, dass manche dieser Abdrücke nicht dem natürlichen Laufverhalten der Tiere entsprachen. Wurde die Pfote des Hundes in manchen Fällen absichtlich in den feuchten Ton gedrückt, vielleicht aus Aberglauben, womöglich um Unheil abzuwehren?
In der Neuzeit gilt die Hundepfote jedenfalls als Glückssymbol. Man findet ihre Abdrücke immer wieder an markanten Stellen repräsentativer oder sakraler Gebäude, zum Beispiel auf Mauersteinen oder Ziegeln.

Leider mussten die beiden IRO Module MRT FL Vorbereitung in Kranjska Gora, Slowenien (09. – 11.04.2021) und in Salo, Finnland (07. – 09.05.2021) auf Grund der COVID-19 Situation und der damit einhergehenden gesetzlichen Einschränkungen abgesagt werden.
Es freut uns jedoch euch mitteilen zu können, dass wir derzeit an einem Webinar arbeiten, das die Inhalte des MRT FL Vorbereitung abdeckt. Wir sind uns bewusst, dass ein Onlinekurs kein Ersatz für die Ausbildung am Gelände sein kann, doch sind wir bemüht, in der aktuell schwierigen COVID-19 Situation eine bestmögliche Vorbereitung zu bieten. Für Fragen zur praktischen Vorbereitung werden wir selbstverständlich auch zur Verfügung stehen. Genaue Details dazu folgen in Kürze.

A lot has happened in the weeks since the last newsletter. Among other things, there is news about the qualification mode for the 26th IRO World Championship for Search and Rescue Dogs. Furthermore, we successfully held the Judge Candidate Training as an online event at the beginning of March.
Virtual events will certainly be part of our everyday life for a while. That's why we would like to celebrate the upcoming International Search and Rescue Dog Day with you digitally this year. You can read more about how this will look here.

Qualification mode:
IRO WCH 2021
|
|
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the qualification mode for the World Championship 2021 will be changed:
All IPO-R tests (FCI/IRO) will be valid for the World Championship qualification 2021, which have been taken with the required minimum score in the period 22.09.2019 – 30.06.2021.
A decision on whether the World Championship can be held as planned will be made at a later date.

IRO Judge Candidate Training
|
|
From 06 – 07 March the IRO Judge Candidate Training took place online. The participants got valuable insights into the work of a judge by means of presentations and videos.
A big THANK YOU to our three Judge Instructors Astrid Laner, Walter Hoffmann and Pavel Šabacký as well as our two Spokespersons Jerneja Ternovec (Training & Judges) and Vedran Vukomanović (Marketing & PR) for the interesting training.
We also thank the judge candidates for their active participation.

Update: Payment of
sponsor money
|
|
Due to the fact that we have only recently received some of the documents regarding classification and funding, there may be a delay in the payment of the funding.
Important note: If documents have not yet been fully submitted to the IRO Office, we urgently request them to be sent by Monday, 22.03.2021 at the latest. If the documents are not complete by then, the sponsor money cannot be paid out. NROs that have not sent the relevant documentation will be classified as an associated member.

Since its foundation in 1993, there has been a steady growth in the number of member organisations of the IRO. We are pleased to announce the addition of the following four organisations to our global network:
We extend a warm welcome to the NROs and look forward to our collaboration.
At the same time, we would like to announce that THW - Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk has left the IRO at the beginning of the year. Nevertheless, the continuous exchange of expertise and the use of synergies remain a mutual endeavour.
The IRO is a worldwide consortium of 126 national search and rescue dog organisations from 43 nations, united by one common goal: saving lives.

Initiative for the International Search and Rescue Dog Day
|
|
On Sunday, 25.04.2021 we celebrate the International Search and Rescue Dog Day. The day is commemorated to showcase the valuable work of our search and rescue dog community.
Although the organisation of public live events or trial trainings is not possible yet, we still can give people an insight into the fulfilling work with search and rescue dogs.
How are we going to do this? We will create a fundraiser on Facebook and we would like to encourage YOU to post images and videos of your SAR dog activities using the hashtag #irodogs in the week leading up to this special day.
We will let you know as soon as the campaign starts and thank you already for your contributions.

Historical facts about the dog

Did you know that dogs have been proven to have left their prints already in Roman antiquity, and even in relatively large numbers?
This fact is very well documented on Roman tiles. In the course of the drying process before firing, bricks were laid out on free areas. If the kilns were located on the grounds of a Roman estate (Villa Rustica), it could of course happen that many of the dogs and cloven-hoofed animals running free there accidentally left their footprints in the damp clay.
However, some zoologists and veterinarians came to believe that not all of these prints did correspond to the natural walking behaviour of the animals. Was the dog's paw in some cases deliberately pressed into the wet clay, perhaps out of superstition, possibly to ward off disaster?
In any case, in modern times, the dog's paw is considered a symbol of good luck. Its imprint can be found again and again at prominent places on representative or sacral buildings, for example on masonry stones or bricks.
The article was written by our wonderful colleague Belinda, who, as a studied archaeologist, regularly amazes us with such exciting historical stories.

Unfortunately, the two IRO Modules MRT FL preparation in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia (09. – 11.04.2021) and in Salo, Finland (07. – 09.05.2021) had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation and the associated legal restrictions.
However, we are pleased to announce that we are currently working on a webinar that will cover the contents of the MRT FL preparation. We are aware that an online course cannot be a substitute for real training, but we are committed to providing the best possible preparation in the current difficult COVID-19 situation. We will of course also be available to answer questions about practical preparation. Further details will follow shortly.
