5 game cast members reprise roles in LIDEN FILMS anime

The official website for Kadokawa's Tenka Hyakken franchise revealed the cast, staff, visual, and October premiere for the franchise's short anime adaptation. The anime is titled Tenka Hyakken: Meiji-kan e Yōkoso! (Welcome to Meiji Hall!).

Some of the cast are reprising their roles from the game:

The new cast members include:

Daisuke Hashimoto is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS, and is also designing the characters alongside Ryōta Azuma and Naoki Okada. Azuma is also serving as the chief animation director. Kentarō Fujita is the assistant director. Yū Satō (Inferno Cop, Space Battleship Tiramisu) is writing and overseeing the scripts.

Yuri Sanan is the art director, while Emiko Onodera is the color key artist. Yui Hasegawa is credited for 2D works. Junpei Takatsu is the compositing director of photography, and Misaki Enokida is editing. Ryousuke Naya is directing the sound at Studio Mouse. Ryūdai Abe (18if) is composing the music. The company picnic is credited for music production cooperation.

Ōno, Takahashi, Chisuga, Ohwada, and Shiraishi are performing the opening theme song "Aka, Hana o Sakasete" (Crimson, Let the Flower's Bloom) under the unit name Ohanamishū Tsubaki-gumi.

The Tenka Hyakken franchise centers around the "Mitsurugi," maidens who are physical incarnations of ancient swords. They have pledged to live peaceful lives after the era of warfare, but are now returning to battle to fight a new foe that has arisen during an alternate version of the Meiji Era, three hundred years after the Battle of Sekigahara. (The franchise uses different kanji characters for Meiji, which roughly translates as "legendary rule" as a wordplay on swordsmiths' mei signatures on their handiwork.)

Kadokawa's Dengeki G's Magazine unveiled the multimedia franchise in June 2015, and the Tenkan Hyakken -Zan- game launched on April 20, 2017. The franchise also inspired several manga and novel titles in the various Dengeki magazines and imprints.

Update: Corrected Sukashi Masamune's name. Thanks shosakukan.
