When it comes to the reopening of borders for those vaccinated, the issue is a bit more complicated. Some countries are opening their doors to particular other countries where the situation is safe, while others are permitting entry to anyone vaccinated against COVID-19.

Countries worldwide have approved and put into use different vaccines. Hungary, for example, is the country with the highest number of vaccines approved, as many as eight. The majority of Hungary’s fellow EU Member States, on the other hand, have approved only the vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) – which are Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca, and Janssen.

So, while someone vaccinated with Sputnik V can travel to Hungary, the same cannot enter Germany or France.

On the other hand, there are 8 vaccines that are approved for use by the WHO:

  • Pfizer/BioNTech
  • Moderna
  • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)
  • AstraZeneca
  • Covishield
  • Bharat Biotech – Covaxin
  • Sinopharm (Bejing)
  • Sinovac

With 2.9 billion people have received at least their first COVID-19 vaccine dose, among whom a total of 1.1 billion fully vaccinated, the world is set to open its borders, gradually, maybe slowly, but safely.

Aside from causing a health crisis, the Coronavirus pandemic has also created a financial crisis, with world countries losing millions from the travel and tourism sector alone. For example, the US suffered a loss of $766 billion in the travel and tourism sector last year, while the UK has lost £148 billion, and Germany has lost €161 billion in the same sector within the same period.
