What is Link Analytics in Cuttly?

Link Analytics in Cuttly is the data layer built into every short link. Every time someone clicks a link created with Cuttly, the platform records and aggregates data about that click — no extra setup, no tracking code, no third-party integrations required.

Analytics are available for every short link from the moment it is created. You access them directly from the dashboard by clicking the analytics button next to any link.

For each short link, Cuttly tracks and displays the following data:

Total clicks — the number of clicks on the link over the selected time range, shown as a chart by day.
Hourly Insights (Heat Maps) — a visual activity chart showing clicks by day of week and hour, for the current week and the previous week. Available from the Single plan.
Source of clicks — breakdown of clicks coming from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other/direct sources.
Referrals / other sources — the specific referring domains that sent clicks to the link.
Devices — device type classification: Desktop, Mobile, Tablet, TV, Console, Car Browser, Portable Media Player, Camera, Feature Phone, Phablet, Smart Display, Smart Speaker, Wearable, and others.
System (OS) — operating systems with version breakdown on hover (e.g. Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, ChromeOS, and many more).
Browsers — browsers and client applications with version breakdown on hover (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Samsung Internet, Opera, and many more — including generic HTTP clients and feed readers).
Brands — device brands with model breakdown on hover (thousands of brands and models detected).
Languages — browser/system languages of visitors.
Geo Location — interactive world map showing click distribution by country, with a ranked list of top countries. Country is determined from the visitor's IP address with high accuracy.
Bots — detected bot traffic, broken down by known bot names (e.g. Meta-ExternalFetcher, Googlebot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, AhrefsBot, BingBot, and many others).

All analytics data in Cuttly is aggregated and anonymized. Individual visitor data is not tracked or stored. Time data is displayed in UTC by default; the timezone for the weekly heat maps can be set per account in account settings.
